My 10+ years of experience in depth psychology, clinical counseling, internal family systems, and art therapy enables me to help clients struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, eating disorders, body image and dysmorphia, life transitions, and grief and loss.
Individuals in their 20s and 30s seek therapy with me because they are feeling depressed, emotionally or physically drained, unmotivated or anxious, worried or panicked. Many come to therapy for support with grief related to loss, change, or transition. I help those who feel stuck or like they are not living up to hopes or expectations. People also come for trauma resolution and stress management, looking to gain insight into their past to make changes for the future. I help those who feel disconnected from themselves and are looking to live a more symbolic and meaningful life through personal growth, creativity, and authenticity.

I am a licensed mental health counselor and graduate of Columbia University, and have been providing mental health services since 2006. My practice incorporates the client’s input and feedback, which in my experience is essential to achieving insight. I believe that the best therapy does not end with achieving insight, but should extend to helping my clients develop a practical plan for turning insight into action. My job isn’t complete until I have helped my clients foster the resilience and self-reliance necessary for managing daily challenges on their own.

Often described as empathetic, diligent and astute, Celeste has experience working with victims of human trafficking. She knew after this experience that she wanted to become a therapist. She believes that something as small as a giggle, as well as reaching weekly goals, recovery maintenance and regaining one’s self-confidence can have a big impact on guests. She believes the smallest of steps can lead to the biggest strides. Celeste finds it fulfilling witnessing guests come full circle and regain their confidence, hope and sense of normalcy through the work they do in therapy.

Finding the right therapist can be overwhelming. I understand it takes courage to be vulnerable, so I’ll meet you with compassion and a non-judgmental space for healing. A safe space for exploring your thoughts and feelings while being heard and understood. Our lived experiences can often burden us with feelings of hopelessness, worry, fear, shame, and guilt, or sometimes have us questioning our self-worth or purpose in life. You have worth and your needs matter and are deserving of individualized attention. Together, I will support you in processing what has you feeling stuck or in pain and interfering with your daily life.

Every individual in society is different so that per their perspectives, they formulate their opinion and a set of behavior. Under the theory of individual perception, the science which sounds theoretically proven and reasonable comes to play its role, resulting in various consequences. However, I believe that the perception created under the societal and scientific rules is not equivalent to neither the human mind nor the psychiatric world of the individual because human beings have unlimited imagination. I am looking for expanding the dimension of variables regarding the scientifically proven therapeutic methods

People use therapy to help change themselves or deal with life challenges. Oftentimes, therapy may involve revealing significant parts of ourselves, our relationships, or life circumstances. Therapy can help reduce or alleviate problems to help us live more fulfilling lives. Therapy is a partnership between you and me. Together, we identify the goals of your treatment, we work on skills, and we resolve to improve ourselves and our life conditions. I believe there are various ways to approach issues. My experience and belief is that many of our life’s challenges and pains stem from the way we think about ourselves and the world.

Individuals come to me for a trauma-focused, body-centered (somatic therapy), or Jungian depth approach to psychotherapy, especially when they’re navigating complex trauma. Many feel stuck, lonely, overwhelmed, or lost and seek a therapist with both clinical expertise and personal experience. Facing these deeply distressing experiences alone can be isolating and helpless. Whether you're new to therapy or have had past experiences that felt too clinical, you may find yourself searching for something more meaningful and with lasting impact.

Eating Disorders Therapists

What happens in therapy for eating disorders?

In therapy for eating disorders, patients typically describe their eating and exercise behaviors, their patterns of eating in relation to stress, their beliefs about their body, the ways their eating behavior affects their relationships, and their desire (or lack of it) to change. Such information helps the therapist understand the origins of the disorder and the role it plays in the patient’s life, important for guiding treatment. Attitudes and feelings about food and eating, body weight, and physical appearance are common topics of discussion throughout treatment.

What therapy types help with eating disorders?

Once any acute medical or psychiatric emergency is resolved, psychoactive medication is often prescribed, requiring the supervision of a psychiatrist. In addition, patients receive some form of nutritional counseling along with one or more forms of psychotherapy. For adolescents, family-based treatment is empirically validated and considered the first line of treatment; parents and their children meet weekly with a clinician as the adults are coached on how to nourish and psychologically support the young patient. Adults typically receive some form of individual psychotherapy, intended to resolve the cognitive and behavioral disturbances that underlie the disorder and to relieve the mood disturbances that accompany it. In addition, patients may also be helped by group therapy.

What is the goal of therapy for eating disorders?

The most immediate goal of treatment for eating disorders is to save the life of people who are on a path of starving themselves to death or engaging in eating patterns that are doing irreparable physical harm to their body. Once the acute medical danger is past, therapy is required to understand the nature of the disordered eating and/or exercise patterns, establish healthy eating behavior, and to tackle the many erroneous beliefs and distorted self-perceptions that underlie eating disorders and continue to pose a threat to health and life. Therapy also addresses the impaired mood that not only accompanies eating disorders but intensifies the danger to health and life.

What are the limitations of therapy for eating disorders?

Therapy can be very helpful for eating disorders—but that can happen only after people recognize they have a condition that must be treated. Especially with anorexia, the distortions in self-image that accompany the disorder can keep people from acknowledging they have a problem. Individuals may in fact see their eating disorder as a badge of self-control. Those with binge-eating disorder may feel too ashamed to seek help. Therapy cannot help those who do not avail themselves of it.

How long does therapy last for eating disorders?

Because of their complexity, recovery from eating disorders is usually a long-term process—measured in months and years— often marked by setbacks and relapse. Some form of help, such as individual or group therapy, may be advisable for much of that time. It is a general rule of thumb that the longer the illness has endured and the dysregulated eating behavior has taken root, the longer treatment is likely to be needed.
