Children, adolescents, adults and parents often find themselves stuck in a place where they need an outside source of support, stability and guidance. The many emotions that provide us with such joy, can also cause us pain and suffering. We are sometimes looking for the solid ground that a therapy process can provide. You may need a place to find your voice, find your strength and face your challenges in a way that feels less alone and isolating. Having a witness to our inner struggles and experiences can be remarkably helpful. As a clinician, my goal is to listen deeply and intently to your personal and subjective experience.

Does the idea of therapy week after week with slow movement seem frustrating to you? It does to me. I have facilitated transformational trainings internationally for over 30 years, reigniting passion in relationships, supporting breakthroughs and having people step fully into who they are. I became a LMFT because I wanted to translate the powerful progress of transformation into a therapeutic setting. I work best with those who are motivated and committed to shifting limited patterns. I offer Couples Custom-designed Intensives, Retreats, and Breakthrough mentorships and am Certified in Psychedelic Assisted Therapy.

Hi there. I am glad you stopped by. Equine-assisted psychotherapy offers organic healing and growth that is both evidence-based and unique... because you and your story are unique. Horses live in the here-and-now; They are prey animals. Because of this, they are constantly providing us with feedback about our own behavior. This feedback can allow us to become more self-aware and self-reflective. They teach us about congruency, confidence/leadership, emotional regulation, emotional awareness, fear, anger, setting boundaries, and relationships, amongst other things. If you would like to grow in any of these areas, horses can help you.

My goal is for clients to benefit from my experience as a LMFT (132685), registered nurse (307004), & a doctorate in human sexuality. I have a broad range of counseling experiences from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), relationship management, anxiety, and LGBTQ issues. Generally, psychotherapeutic problems are interrelated in some form. For example, many LGBT+ clients deal with nonacceptance from significant others. Resolving feeling of alienation can enhance one's livability. Many diverse individuals' have experienced various forms of traumas in their lifespan (rejections, sexual violations, biases), PTSD is not uncommon.

I believe the "fit", or connection is crucial for successful therapy.. I offer a safe, nonjudgmental setting which fosters clarity and insight and creates the conditions for growth and healing. I use an interpersonal and developmental approach but am able to work from different a perspective when the situation calls for one. I am experienced in helping people with their thought processes as they encounter the difficulties and challenges in life. I work with individual adults and adolescents.

We are here to help you heal! Are you needing some help navigating your life journey? We are here to walk alongside you while you heal. You are not what has happened to you. Your trauma and pain does not define you. Sometimes in order to separate from our story we must tell our story, understand it, and truly be heard and acknowledged. As your therapy team we will help you to navigate your own healing journey. Whether you have experienced trauma, are struggling with lack of purpose, feeling empty or alone, or experiencing feeling fragmented or broken. You are not alone and healing is possible! In office, outdoors or with horses.

I am a licensed Psychologist in California since Feb 2011. I graduated from UCLA with a Bachelors degree in Psychology. I got my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 2005 from CGI. I am bilingual and have over 15 years of experience in several clinical settings, including: college counseling center, private setting, community outpatient rehab center and in prison mental health facility. In this therapeutic journey, the patient will gain insight into their current thought process/outlook, that has resulted in their daily pattern of behaviors/decisions.

It is exciting, you are taking steps to find support. I am licensed in CA and NJ. I work with individuals, couples and families experiencing relationship stress or attachment trauma. The hallmark of trauma is the loss of basic trust. Our mind-body connection is powerful. In the short-term, it finds the quickest route to safety. Yet, overtime the protection it affords can become a pattern that adversely affects our well-being. I am passionate about helping individuals, couples and families to hear each others' feelings and attachment needs. Reaching authentic bonding with self and others is the goal of attachment based therapy.

My goal is to make a positive lasting difference in your child's life. By evaluating how they learn, I can help identify thier potential for success and explain their challenges. With this information I then can help develop intervention strategies and instructional supports that may require a section 504 or an Indivdual Education Plan. It is my belief that every child has learning differences, but by creating a love for learning and resilience, they can achieve great accomplishments.

Teen Therapists

What does therapy for teenagers look like?

When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?

There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?

You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
