As an LGBTQ-friendly psychotherapist with a diverse client base, my ideal client seeks growth amidst life transitions, emotional challenges, or relationship issues. They need an inclusive, understanding space for self-discovery and acceptance, and strategies for resilience. They aim for emotional stability, authentic self-expression, and improved relationships. My clients want to feel seen, live authentically, and build a supportive network. I guide them towards these goals with empathy and expertise.

Hi, I'm Celina. We all face things in our lives that can be overwhelming. Whether we are challenged with traumas from our past or dealing with stressors of today, our stories matter. The good news is that we don’t have to face this alone. Taking this step isn't always easy, but it's worth it. I have dedicated many years to giving back to my community and have worked in a variety of settings which has allowed me to serve a diverse population. During my career, I have been honored to support the LGBT community, work as a therapist in a community clinic, and provide support to those experiencing tragedy as 911 crisis counselor.

It is a radical act to pursue health, liberation, and self-acceptance in a world that too often seeks to dehumanize and control us. My intention is for therapy to be a refuge from that pressure and trauma, where you can explore who you want to be and how you want to live your life. Everyone has unique needs, strengths, and values, so my therapeutic approach is always as collaborative and egalitarian as possible. As a member of the transgender community, I am particularly experienced in issues relating to LGBTQ+ identity, relationships, and discrimination.

Let's talk about your story. We are surrounded by stories about ourselves, our cultures, and communities. I help trans, queer, and POC people explore the stories that compose our lived experiences of anxiety, depression, gender, immigration, and race. Together, we'll work towards unpacking generational trauma to fortify your mental wellness, communication, boundaries, and intentional living.

I have additional training in working with racial identity issues, perinatal issues, and LGBTQIA+ individuals.
Are you a parent who finds yourself staying up late at night, thinking about your child and googling ways to better understand or help them? Maybe you wake up in the morning, vowing that this day will be different. This day you won’t find yourself in endless power struggles with your children. This day you won't resort to yelling or threatening to take away electronics only to find yourself caving by 10 am. Do you wonder why life seems so overwhelming and tiring when you have so much to be grateful for? As an Attachment-focused therapist, you are the type of client I see often.

LGBTQ+ Therapists
Do LGBTQ-affirmative therapists receive special training?
Yes. Many therapists who practice LGBTQ-affirmative therapy have completed specialized training, either during their degree program or as continuing education, to learn the core principles of affirmative therapy and how to best support their LGBTQ clients; some have received certifications in LGBTQ-affirmative therapy. Prospective clients should inquire as to a clinician’s background and training to ensure a good fit.
Why might I want to see an LGBTQ-affirming or LGBTQ-friendly therapist?
Queer and gender-non-conforming individuals frequently experience bias and marginalization in day-to-day life. Working with a therapist who understands these unique challenges, as well as accepts and affirms their identity, can help LGBTQ clients feel safe and supported during therapy—allowing them to better navigate their relationships, mental health, and anything else that they wish to explore during therapy. It is important to note that many therapists can be effective in their work with LGBTQ+ individuals, even in the absence of specific training or background knowledge. The most important component in therapy is the alliance between therapist and client, and this alliance can exist between individuals with very different backgrounds.
How can I find an LGBTQ-friendly therapist?
You may wish to inquire about a therapist’s expertise with your specific challenges or concerns—depression, for example, or relationship strife—as well as their past experiences treating LGBTQ+ clients. Prospective clients may also ask whether a therapist has obtained additional training and/or certification in LGBTQ-affirmative techniques.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience with LGBTQ issues?
Prospective clients should feel empowered to directly ask therapists whether they have received training or been certified in LGBTQ-affirming therapy; competent therapists will be happy to explain their educational background and preferred approach(es) to help a client find the best match for them. Clients may also wish to ask how a therapist has treated clients with their particular challenges in the past and what they expect treatment to look like.
Are all the therapists listed in the LGBTQ directory themselves members of the LGBTQ community?
While therapists may choose to disclose their sexual orientation or gender identity in their profiles, the LGBTQ directory features not only those who have shared this information but also those who assert specialized training or experience in providing support to queer individuals, couples or families.
