I specialize in working with clients that live with anxiety, depression, trauma, intergenerational trauma, workplace difficulty, life transitions, aging and relational issues.
Thank you for reviewing my profile. Looking for a therapist can be mutually daunting and exciting. It takes a tremendous amount of courage and vulnerability to decide to get support in any area of your life, and I am available to empower and guide you on your therapeutic journey. I offer a Relational Gestalt approach to therapy, which means that we build an alliance together focusing on embodiment and what is present for you in the moment. I bear witness and support you in increasing your awareness of your experience as we share space for your transformational healing.

I provide a safe and supportive environment where you will be able to achieve greater self-understanding, confront fears, and develop new skills in order to live a more joyful and authentic life.
Sometimes we can feel stuck. Maybe you find yourself repeating habits that are hurting you and/or others but you can't seem to stop the cycle. Perhaps you have had a painful experience that you are having difficulty healing from. It may be that you are so anxious or overwhelmed with negative feelings, it feels hard to enjoy life and move forward in a meaningful way. Or possibly, it's just that you can't seem to shake that critical voice inside that says you aren't good enough.

I have extensive experience treating those struggling with eating disorders and co-occurring mood, anxiety and chemical dependency/abuse.
It's tough to be human. I use a trauma-informed approach, working primarily from a place of wanting to understand your perspective. I believe in supporting you with reframing thoughts and narratives that may no longer serve you. I work relationally, supporting you identify themes in your life that may hinder you from having the most meaningful life possible. I believe in supporting you create an experience that is purposeful; the pace of therapy can move as slowly or quickly as you deem comfortable. I’m licensed in CA, OR and FL (telehealth). I can provide therapy anywhere in California, Oregon or Florida via telehealth.

Sometimes, life can be a bit daunting. Between big life decisions, tragedies, and even days when nothing seems to go right, it's easy to get down, anxious, and feel overwhelmed. I work with adults and adolescents who struggle with anxiety, depression, grief, addiction, life's transitions, or need a space of their own to share openly free from bias or judgement.

Life is challenging enough without being hampered by painful or unpleasant thoughts, feelings or memories. I have been in private practice since 1990, helping people overcome the emotional obstacles that prevent them from living full and satisfying lives. These obstacles include: low self-esteem, difficulty relating to others, relationship problems, unresolved grief, immobilizing anxiety, unresolved issues from childhood, maladaptive ways of coping with stress etc.. I see adults only and do not do couple's therapy. When contacting me, please briefly state what you need help with, and, your insurance, if planning to use it.

Perhaps you are encountering roadblocks of a happier and more satisfying life. Feelings of anxiety, sadness, and dissatisfaction as well as relationship difficulties, can leave us feeling frustrated and confused. I extend my help in a safe and supportive way. Together, we can explore your experiences to create meaning and movement towards fulfillment. Our earlier life events may have influenced us to establish unhelpful patterns in how we regard ourselves and relate to others.

Through understanding and working with our inner system and parts we can transform ourselves from the inside out rather than relieving the symptoms of depression, anxiety, and trauma.
Are you feeling stuck with the same issues despite putting in the effort to improve yourself? You’ve worked hard to achieve your goals whether that be career, personal, or relational only to find that things feel the same. Perhaps there is a part of you that really wants to grow and become who you were meant to be only to find yourself self-sabotaging the process. As an Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapist I would like to offer you another way to understand yourself and facilitate lasting change that goes beyond traditional talk therapy.

I specialize in working with adults coping with anxiety, stress, loss and large life changes.
Often times we get stuck in patterns related to our thoughts or behaviors that get in the way of us getting to where we want to go. These patterns can worsen symptoms of anxiety, depression and at times, interfere with our relationships and overarching goals. Through a collaborative approach, I aim at helping you explore your own motivation to take meaningful steps in creating the life you want to live by examining these patterns.

You may have felt stressed, anxious, or depressed for a long time and haven’t been able to find your way out.
The last couple of years have thrown a wrench in the life we once had. The coping skills that worked aren't helping as much. Our ability to socialize and engage in self-care as we knew it has come with some mental resistance or a twinge of anxiety. Now that we are learning to adjust to life during and after the pandemic, the stressful experiences can still feel overwhelming. Regardless of whether you are in crisis or dealing with a persistent concern, you're here because you are ready to feel better. I would like to help you with that.

If you are struggling with depression, anxiety, PTSD, or substance abuse, and what I have described here connects and resonates with you, we just might be the right fit to form such a relationship.
As trite as it may sound, life is complex. It is in our nature to work unconsciously to avoid re-experiencing our most distressing past experiences, and the painful feelings resulting from them. Unfortunately, as our psyche tries to protect us, we unwittingly develop patterns of thinking, feeling, behaving, and relating to others that become painful road-blocks towards personal growth, and undermine our sense of well-being. Thankfully, the process of psychotherapy can work to unknot these patterns, create emotional healing, and empower us to forge new paths-ways leading towards lives of fulfillment and ongoing personal growth.

I specialize in treating OCD and Anxiety related disorders which I have extensive experience working with in treatment centers and helping clients through Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) and ACT.
Feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or burdened by the many curveballs life throws at you? You're not alone, a fully lived life inevitably includes difficult experiences which can lead to emotional distress, intrusive thoughts, or avoidance. Feelings of anxiety and depression can seem like they own us and control our lives, but they don't have to. Rather than be a victim of our feelings we can learn to manage our experience of living with them instead of numbing out with Netflix binges or substance use. We can get back in the driver's seat of our life's journey and start living our best lives!

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
