Additionally, I specialize in working with adults with ADHD and offer individual therapy, group therapy, and conduct ADHD assessments for this population.
There is significant strength in seeking support and guidance when you need it. My clients are often those who reach a point of feeling lost or overwhelmed and understandably cannot move forward on their own. They might feel disconnected from themselves, feel stuck due to past experiences, or recognize that the way they are living their life does not align with what truly makes them happy.

Hi, I am JaNese Hubbard, I am licensed as an LPCC in California. I enjoy working with teens and adults who are looking to connect and discover their best authentic self. I enjoy working as a team and coming up with solutions to current or ongoing challenges. I am also an adoptive parent, so I understand the dynamics that go along with it, as well as having children who have struggled with the impact of being adopted. The approaches I use are individually based but tend to use CBT and behavioral modification most. I have experience working with anxiety, depression, ADHD, Autism, and chronic illness.

I have worked with clients experiencing depression, anxiety, PTSD, Bipolar Disorder, ADHD, eating disorders, substance use issues, and relationship issues as well as clients who just needed someone to talk to.
I work with youth and adults from underrepresented groups, including those from minority backgrounds and neurodiverse clients. I desire to better understand your thoughts, emotions, and experiences. I aim to help center and uplift those who think differently and feel more intensely. I fervently work against the stigma of counseling among marginalized groups and fill in the gaps in providing individualized care. I believe in creating a safe, judgement-free space, where I can work collaboratively with you to meet their goals.

You feel overwhelmed by the pressure to succeed, yet still feel like you're falling behind some invisible measure of "real success." You are over being the giver in your relationships, whether in friendships where you initiate all of the texts or your intimate relationships where you feel more like a manager than a true partner. Your nervous system is spent because you're burned out, but even the thought of downtime gives you guilt. You're ready for something to change on a deeper level so that you can finally understand yourself, accept yourself, and trust yourself, no matter the circumstances.

There's no instruction manual for life. Relationship problems, career questions and mental health issues can make us feel confused about our own identity, where we fit in and how to move forward. I specialize in helping adults and couples navigate difficult feelings, identify and change unhelpful thoughts and patterns, and become "un-stuck" in order to enjoy a more peaceful mind and a happier life. My approach is open, casual, and collaborative, and I strive to maintain a space that is judgment-free, and where clients feel fully accepted, truly seen and supported. I'm LGBTQIA+-friendly, sex/kink-positive and culturally-sensitive.

Every one of us deserves joy, peace-of-mind, and well-being. We deserve to reach our full potential. Yet, somewhere along the way, we are diverted--oftentimes when our past burdens us, change upsets us, or unmet expectations disappoint us. Attempting to make sense of the distress, we engage in patterns that seem to comfort us, but in actuality, they move us further away from growth and the very things that have the power to fulfill us. Whatever your reason is for therapy, I aim to help pinpoint these patterns, rewrite your story, and guide you in finding your way towards the positive life aspects that you're worthy of experiencing.

Do you seek relief from anxiety, low self worth, ruminating thoughts? Are you creative, highly sensitive, or a "black sheep"? I see you... I can provide you a rich connection, safe space to explore, and teach coping tools + skills. I use brain science, evidence-based techniques, somatic, Jungian, CBT, IFS Parts Work, and arts therapies in our work. I also believe we all have innate gifts/strengths that we reactivate through meaningful connections, like therapy. Together, we'll transform your anxiety, trauma, and relationship issues by exploring stories, editing automatic beliefs, and releasing emotions your body hold to gain peace.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
