I mostly work with men who are dealing with generalized anxiety, social anxiety, OCD, adult ADHD, panic disorder, difficulties with stress management, and life transitions.
Selecting a new therapist can be a little intimidating. This may be your first time seeking a therapist or you may have some experience with therapy. My commitment is to make the process of beginning therapy as smooth as possible. One of the most important aspects of being a human being is the ability to empathize with someone else. Therapy ought to be a time and space in which you can share your experience and sense that you are actually heard, seen, understood, and affirmed.

As a Woman of Color, I'm very passionate and dedicated towards promoting wellness, healing and recovery. Living in our fast paced world, we often find ourselves feeling empty, depleted, irritable and disconnected. We begin to question life, our existence, and our purpose. My approach is holistic and mindfulness based. I have extensive experience working with diverse communities of color. This has allowed me to understand the mind body connection and how our environments contribute to our dysfunction. I am a bilingual, bi-cultural licensed therapist and graduated from Mt. St. Mary's University.

Hello! I am Dr. Efrain Zepeda. I am a bilingual (English/Spanish) Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Social Worker. In the past 23 years of working as a mental health professional, one important lesson I have learned is that the most powerful therapeutic intervention is found in the interpersonal connection that occurs in the client-therapist relationship. Together we can analyze the past to co-create a new meaning with the goal of achieving healing. I strongly believe that therapy is not about labeling or judging, but rather about personal discovery.

Perhaps the concept of truly loving yourself feels very foreign to you; you might have tried other types of therapy or read self-help books but still face a harsh, almost relentless, inner critic. I specialize in working with people struggling with: fears of being a burden, the wound of feeling "not enough," self acceptance, and difficulty feeling comfortable in relationships. As well as couples who are seeking: better communication, to break repeated patterns of fighting, increase connection and intimacy, and rekindle what once was.

You are here for that sense of belonging & connection, especially when multiple global crises have left communities hopeless, and in a constant state of vigilance. While some anxiety/depression is a normal response to the hyper-violence we are facing as a collective (on screens or in reality), it can feel extremely overwhelming to experience this every day, on top of expectations from work, family, and other relationships. As a child of the Lao Isaan/Southeast Asian diaspora, my passion is working with fellow children of refugee/immigrant diasporas to feel seen + heard + validated through an anti-oppressive framework.

Effective OCD treatment means challenging yourself to do those things you fear—not just speak about them. With therapy, change is easy to see, but it takes your hard work and dedication to do the opposite of what has been protecting you from stress, anxiety, and fear. Living in an OCD cycle is distressing and time consuming, but often times comfortable; its repetitive and ritualistic nature provides a false sense of safety and control. Effective OCD treatment requires a willingness to abandoned your tried and true (though unhealthy) methods try something new. Together, we can enact the change you’d like to see in your life.

I work with clients who, despite their best efforts, seem to keep running up against a wall. Whether it's due to past childhood traumatic experiences, current work or relationship stressors or no known reason, I would love to support you. I especially enjoy working with couples as they navigate stuck patterns of disconnection. For individuals my primary focus is usually with anxiety and parenting. Clients who come to me often want a clearer understanding of their emotional experiences and relationship patterns. A main goal my clients are looking to achieve include a deeper and stronger relationship with themselves and others.

Hey you! I can only imagine how many other profiles you have tirelessly scrolled through trying to find that right fit just for you. Well as you take a pause here, I’d love to share my favorite quote by Maya Angelou that says this: “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will NEVER forget how you made them feel.” Now I can only imagine and empathize with you as to what feeling lead you here at this very moment. Feelings such as depression, anxiety, grief, behavioral issues with pre-teens/teens, family conflict, lack of anger management, suicidal thoughts, etc.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
