Thanks for checking out my profile. My years of experience include work with addictions of all sorts, marriage and family dynamics, trauma and grief, and spiritual issues. I also work a lot with depression and anxiety, which are often a factor in all of these conditions. I provide premarital and marital counseling for couples, and my individual practice is limited to men.

I work from a person-centered approach, using humor, mindfulness, and acceptance as tools of healing and transformation. I believe in the need to broaden our view from seeing individual struggles as collective, moving towards solutions that foster interdependence and equity. I approach counseling as a co-creation, and I consider my role to be an insightful companion through the process. I trust the inherent wholeness of each individual. My clinical focus includes fat liberation/anti-diet body image, grief and loss, fertility challenges/pregnancy loss, family and relationship struggles, and life transitions.

Therapy is a strange and uniquely wonderful thing that can be intimidating. However, I believe that through a holistic approach that takes into account the bio-psycho-social aspects of the individual, we can decrease the discomfort. I practice in using evidence-based treatment modalities while striving for a direct and transparent working relationship.

Welcome, and thank you for taking the time to get to know a little about me as a professional. I draw on several psychotherapy models in my work depending on a client’s diagnosis and their treatment goals, but the one approach that I bring to every client and session is a strengths-based one rooted in positive psychology. Uncovering and developing individual and cultural strengths together to help clients address their challenges and find more joy and meaning in life is my favorite part of therapy.

As a therapist for over 25 years, I have worked in a multitude of settings with a wide range of populations. I provide individual and couples counseling. Over the years I have worked extensively with folks struggling with: PTSD, depression, anxiety, Bipolar, addictions, codependency, eating disorders, Body Dysmorphia, and those on the Autism Spectrum. With couples I draw upon Attachment Theory and the work of John Gottman. I am highly adapt at building connection and trust with communities of color. I am a member of the LGBQTI community. Validation, the need for justice, being seen and heard, attunement, and empathy are essential.
