Although I believe that the goals of therapy are always first and foremost determined by my clients, I generally hold the hope for each of them that they will find more joy in life. To that end, I believe in an eclectic theoretical approach, one that draws on a wide range of perspectives including humanist/existential philosophy, Jungian psychodynamics, trauma-informed and client-centered practice, because I believe people are eclectic. Because I have both personal and professional experience with this work, I view the relationship between client and therapist as central and fundamental to the therapeutic process being effective.

Although I have a wait list for new clients, I have some great clinicians that I am providing direct clinical supervision to at Mountain Valley Counseling that are accepting new clients. Contact me and I can tell you about our staff and help get you scheduled with one of my supervisees. At MVC, we are person-centered in our approach, and fundamentally believe in depth psychology methods. We want to help people beyond basic symptom reduction, which research shows, provides more lasting change. Oftentimes the issue someone presents to therapy with is a symptom of deeper difficulties or traumas. We also offer Ketamine therapy.

I am consistently amazed by the resilience of the human spirit, and Like Viktor Frankl, believe that “the most human of all human capabilities is the capability to turn a tragedy into a personal triumph, to transform suffering into a human achievement” (Frankl, 1963). Life’s challenges are not meant to break us but to propel us toward growth and personal fulfillment. In my practice, I am dedicated to guiding individuals through their struggles, helping them uncover their inner strength and resilience.

I specialize in helping people going through religious and general life transitions. I personally understand the complexity and sometimes liberation one can feel when embarking on change. My passion is to help people cultivate self-compassion and autonomy to face life’s challenges. I strive to make therapy a place where clients feel safe and empowered to make positive changes. I use elements of Attachment Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and person-centered therapy. Because I am person-centered and want to meet people where they are at, I will pull from other modalities if needed.

I personally know what it is like to reach out for support. Everyone has a unique story, and therapy doesn’t look the same for any two people. I am committed to remaining curious, non-judgemental and open to understanding you. I believe that it is imperative to be grounded in evidence-based practices, I find it equally as important to be genuine and compassionate within this very connection-based work. I primarily utilize humanistic and narrative therapeutic approaches, and often incorporate other modalities to best address the unique needs of each person I work with. I am trained in and offer Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy.

At times you may feel broken. You’re different and as much as you try, you don’t feel like you fit in. You don’t even know where to begin but you are hoping to find healing and maybe even looking for a change. If any of this sounds familiar, you might be experiencing some kind of life transition, trauma, anxiety, or depression. It can be incredibly challenging and exhausting to face the mix of emotions and thoughts alone. You can find a safe space here and I will fully accept you as you are. Together we can explore ways to help you find the kind of life you want and deserve. I’d love to work with you and be a part of your journey.

Experiencing panic attacks, obsessive thoughts or behaviors (OCD), or constant worry? First, if you've been experiencing racing heart, overactive mind, feeling as though you're going to die, this is a panic attack. This is your mind/body reacting to overwhelming anxiety. I can help most client's overcome their panic attacks in the first session. Second, I use research-based, proven techniques to help you quickly overcome feelings of despair, worry and fear. Let me help you reach your full potential and enjoy life to its fullest. It's time to live, not just survive.

Human connection is a fundamental aspect of well-being. Your ability to connect within relationships can be hindered for multiple reasons which can affect your well-being, and create confusion, anxiety, and depression. You may be limited by how you are seeing a situation. One of the greatest benefits of connection to your own internal world and connection to others is the safety it can create to explore and enjoy life. I specialize in healing relationships and unblocking areas that contribute to disconnect within oneself and within your relationships using Family Systems Theory, CBT, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and mindfulness.

If your child is suffering from anxiety or OCD it can be scary and exhausting. You may find yourself worrying about their future while also just trying to just survive the day. You might have been hoping they would grow out of it, but you see their lives growing smaller. Anxiety and OCD makes unreasonable demands of your child and family, whether it is out of control worrying, a hard time separating, constant reassurance, perfectionism, intrusive thoughts, rituals or compulsions, or any number of problems. It demands certainty, hates the unknown and the uncomfortable. You want relief for your child and family.

When you have experienced overwhelming life challenges, and feel stuck, there is still hope. You are bigger than your circumstances. Therapy is a place to create healthy thoughts, beliefs, habits, and relationships. Therapy is instilling confidence, empowering, creating resilience, and marking the changes. Therapy is a place to gain insight, change patterns of behaviors, and learn skills to create a life you love. I have a calming compassionate presence. I am easy to talk to, and I have a curiosity for others.

I have practiced as an LCSW since about 1996 and have worked with a variety of issues that people face. Facing these issues and dealing with life can be difficult at times. I have worked for more than 27 years as a therapist, enjoying the interactions with my clients, helping them individually and as families to manage their struggles. I wouldn't say that the clients I work with are the same as other people but that they have an unique constellations of problems. There are often generational, or cultural issues that need to be taken into account. They are individuals that know their solutions will come from their own efforts.
