Making the decision to get help with life’s challenges is one of the most difficult decisions a person can be faced with and making such a call shows tremendous strength; which we will leverage as we work toward your goals. As we all know, relationships can be a tremendous source of strength and support, but they can also serve as a source of stress and discomfort. learning to accept individual strengths & challenges and identifying/replacing negative emotional and behavioral patterns within the context of romantic relationships is critical for your partnership to become a strength as opposed to a source of stress.

Perhaps you are suffering with something that's been attached to you since childhood or you are battling a current problem in one of the many units of your life (financial, physical, spiritual, relational etc). Perhaps you're not sure what's wrong, but things just don't seem quite right, perhaps I can help.

Parents of children with behavioral or learning challenges often encounter higher levels of stress and can struggle to understand why what works for others isn't working for them. By combining educational, behavioral, and psychological flexibility expertise, I work with parents to help them uncover the ways that shifting their own behavior can create opportunities for their child/children to make different choices.

Help is here. You've made it to the right place! I work with those struggling with depression & anxiety. My niche is women of color processing racial trauma, workplace micro aggressions, and struggles navigating being a person of color living in a predominantly homogenous community. The weight that BIPOC folks feel is often too heavy to lift alone. Having a therapist who looks like you, and understands your cultural lens, is paramount to partnering with you to achieve wellness and recovery. Racial trauma looks like subtle slights + stress from internalized pain of tolerating intolerable systemic stressors based in a toxic culture.

I specialize in families/couples, and I am an Idaho-licensed LMFT and Arizona-licensed LAMFT. Often clients seek therapy because they have become stuck. Sometimes relationships begin great, but life/situations cause a change to happen. We all have personal challenges, have stressful periods, or go through traumatic times. The desire to seek help to explore and process these problems can open the door to positive growth. I believe in the healing power of relationships: no matter the wounds, if all parties are willing to heal, I will help.

Seeking counseling is a valiant decision. My focus is to develop a relationship based on treating each other with dignity and respect. Once this is established, we can explore options and create a plan focused on solutions. Counseling is a process in which we will discuss many issues for the purpose of creating positive changes. It provides an opportunity to better understand yourself. Participating in therapy may result in a number of benefits to you, including reduced stress and anxiety, improved relationships and increased confidence.

Life can be difficult at times and I meet each client where "they are" in life without any judgment or criticism. Stress and anxiety can come in many forms and many ways, which can lead to feelings of being "overwhelmed." All trauma is different and each client has a different response/reaction to the same experience. I work with ALL families, couples, and individuals in processing, understanding, and learning to cope on their journey through life.

Disaster strikes and suddenly your well ordered life turns upside down. How do you put the pieces back together? Maybe your life has been stuck for some time like a black cloud within creating fear and despondence. Perhaps your concerns center around your children and how they are coping with life. No matter how hopeless you feel or how dark your situation, freedom and hope are waiting for you. I believe effective therapy shines light in areas where you are stuck and provides synergy for change.

Waitlist for new clients
Waitlist Only as of mid-May - You are FRIED. Fueled on little but persistence and caffeine you keep pushing yourself forward. Yet, there’s a voice inside saying "I can’t keep doing this." You’re convinced it must be something about you – you aren’t good enough. What really sucks is you’re smart – like really smart, so it seems logical that you should be able to figure this out on your own. But you can’t think your way out of exhaustion. The positive affirmations feel like toxic positivity. Validation, empathy, and commiserating only get you so far. And some people still don't even get it. You need something more.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
