Trauma, loss, interpersonal struggles, life stressors, and emotional pain are hardships everyone faces in some form, but each individual is impacted differently. Counseling can offer a safe and inclusive space that treats each person as a unique individual and allows them to feel heard, validated, and respected. Although I can help provide guidance and insight, I believe that you are the expert of you. Counseling can be a space to process your emotions and experiences while gaining empowerment, confidence, and the tools to make changes and decisions on your own.

I am a LCPC in Boise, Idaho and have experience working with individuals, couples, addictions, past trauma, anxiety, refugees, grief and loss, mood disorders, depression, gender issues, and much more.
My counseling philosophy involves allowing a client to be themselves and working to meet them "wherever they may be on their own self discovery journey". I have been in the counseling field for over 20 years and have tremendous experience working with several populations. I have learned that individuals have the innate capacity to grow and become their best selves, given an environment in which they can do so. Asking for help to do this can be very difficult. Regardless of the obstacles in your life, you have the capacity to move forward.

Immediate openings, no waitlist. Everyone experiences periods of challenge in life. it's natural to feel stuck. Many also live with added mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, addiction, loss/grief & more. When wrestling with these challenges, it often leaves a sense of disconnectedness. It can interfere with important relationships, & it can block us from successfully pursuing important goals. This disconnectedness can lead to existential voids & unpleasant or frightening thoughts. Yet proven evidence-based treatments for this phenomenon exist.

Hello, My name is Garrett Price. I do not think of people as sick or broken; I refuse to see others through the lens of disease. You are not your diagnosis, you are not your loss, you are not your thoughts, your feelings, or your actions. You are that which is behind your eyes, a wonderful mystery that is having this experience. This experience, or what we sometimes call life, can be hard, and in difficult times it's helpful to have a path or direction. This is the idea of Trailhead; a place to find a welcoming other, to discover new skills, heal the mind, strengthen the soul, and find a way forward.

Taking Video clients! Do you feel stuck, anxious and depressed and wonder what is wrong with you? Personal crisis, work burnout, the loss of a loved one, and stressful situations like those of 2020 make life even harder. Just deciding to change, talking yourself through it or “pulling yourself up by the bootstraps” doesn't always work. Sometimes your pain is deep and rooted in the past. Maybe it’s not clear to you and held in your subconscious. That is often a normal outcome when we don’t get the support we need in our time of struggle. I am here to help and look forward to meeting you

Grief Therapists
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
