Drawing upon mindfulness and somatic processing techniques, I guide clients in reconnecting with their inner selves and developing a deeper understanding of their lived experiences.
My priority is creating a safe and nurturing space for my clients, where they feel heard, understood, and respected. I emphasize the client-therapist relationship, recognizing it as a vital cornerstone of the therapeutic process. I believe that by fostering a trusting and supportive environment, clients can feel empowered to explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences openly and authentically. My approach is rooted in the belief that confronting the root causes of our challenges can create lasting change and cultivate a deeper sense of self-awareness and resilience.

I provide an eclectic somatic approach based in mindfulness, gestalt, sensorimotor, and internal family systems.
Are anxiety, depression, and trauma creating roadblocks in your life? Does it feel like there is a disconnect between you and the world around you? It is normal for the trauma stored in your body to create barriers to connection. Unfortunately, these barriers can be incredibly painful and difficult to cope with. You may be experiencing cycles of painful thoughts, days of numbness, or outbursts of anger.

I aim to create a space that encourages reflection and processing through mindfulness and acceptance.
I am passionate about the process of engaging in the therapeutic relationship to build a foundation of trust and safety. The underlying desire and willingness to ask for help, and to receive support, is primary in reaching outcomes together. I seek to support your therapeutic journey, aiming to meet you where you are at, in the moment. The process is fluid with progress occurring over time, depending on the investment you make in treatment. It is a collaborative effort that focuses on your individual goals set from the beginning. Living a life of balance includes mind and body wellness, focusing on you, as a whole.

Schedule now through my website in my bio! Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself” (Rumi). As a trauma survivor on a personal healing journey, I learned how to help others simultaneously. Healing was hard work, but finding the right therapist was a huge piece of the puzzle. Traditional therapy fails so many trauma survivors. I aim to go beyond talk therapy to find the right modality for each unique client. It is a passion of mine to work with clients who face problems of trauma, stress, coping with depression, and anxiety such as military veterans, and survivors of abuse.

Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Therapists

How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.

When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behavior through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviors and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.

Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioral habits.
