Disturbing symptoms such as anxiety, depression, disorientation, and explosive anger may be signs that important, but unseen, parts of ourselves need attention. I use a depth psychological approach to help clients develop greater awareness of who they are and what they need, so that they can use their symptoms as pathways to a more meaningful relationship with themselves and the world around them.

I believe in the wise and loving energy at our core that, given the right environment, guides each of us towards growth, healing, connection, and wholeness. When we are able to access this, we live more fully. My work is to help you identify and release roots of anxiety, fear, suffering, self-doubt or disconnection in order to return to this core and connect to a life more deeply grounded in meaning and joy.

As a psychotherapist, my role is to help facilitate and support you, the client, in discovering, processing, and most importantly, deciding if changing some strategies you have needed to implement in negotiating your life is a next step in your treatment. It can take time to identify influencing factors in the problems experienced in life. Through the development of a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship, we will identify issues, if not already clear to you, and take action in the therapeutic relationship itself to develop the relational, emotional, and or behavioral skills you determine need to be the focus of your treatment.

We all walk this earth together, and I consider it a great gift each time I have the privilege of walking beside a fellow human being as they reach out to someone to assist along the way. Many people are unaware that they already possess formidable personal strengths, which may, when thoughtfully paired with self-awareness, event processing, and healing, yield lives of skilled resilience. I offer you my presence, empathy, skills, and unconditional positive regard as we, together, gain clarity about your situation and build a path forward for you.

Feeling disconnected from yourself, your culture, or your family? Worried about what your family thinks of your lifestyle? Tired of living life with a mask on? It's time to shed the weight of shame and start living guilt-free. I get it! You might feel like the sensitive one, the black sheep, or the scapegoat because you don't follow the same path as your family. Navigating boundaries within dysfunctional or collectivist culture families is tough. I am here for those ready to break free from cultural or familial expectations.

My ideal client is someone who feels weighed down by grief, trauma, or a major life change. They may be feeling lost, overwhelmed, or unsure of how to move forward but are ready to find healing and support. They want a compassionate space where they can talk openly, make sense of their feelings, and start building the tools to cope and grow. Their goal is to feel grounded again—to heal, regain their sense of self, and find hope in the future. They want to move through their pain with resilience and strength, ultimately rediscovering a life that feels fulfilling and meaningful. Together, we'll work toward creating that brighter path

Your relationship with yourself and others cause you to suffer in ways that your friends can't fully comprehend. Feelings of failure, insecurity, anxiety and depression have left you feeling like a stranger in your own life. You question yourself, wondering if you've done something wrong... whether there's something you should be doing differently. Friends and family are trying to be helpful with their advice, but it often leaves you feeling worse. Some days you have hope and others you feel you are in true despair. You are desperate to make sense of it all, and you don't know where to turn.

The purpose of therapy is generally straight forward. Individuals seek professional help when conflict in their world causes pain. In the counseling session, clients share their concerns and therapists share their training and professional experience . I believe that it is my responsibility to provide a safe place where clients can talk about their thoughts, feelings and experiences in a non-judgmental atmosphere. My approach is interactive, validating, compassionate and collaborative. Depending on the client and/or the specific situation, I work from a variety of perspectives.

When did things go so wrong? Every recent interaction with your husband seems to end in conflict. You used to be so in sync and open about your thoughts and feelings with one another. But now, it’s like you’re speaking two different languages. It’s so frustrating and lonely to live this way. You wish you could somehow pause the day and take a bit of time for yourself and your relationship. But it’s impossible. Between work, kids, and the endless responsibilities of adulthood, there’s no time to fix anything. So you continue on like this. Smiling through the pain, slowly drifting further apart but unable to do anything about it.

Hi there. How's it going? No, really. I’m interested in the honest answer. Because in a world where unprecedented events are happening on the daily, it’s likely you’re feeling a teensy bit (or a lot a bit) overwhelmed, out of control and lost. When you’re not running around in a crippling state of anxiety, you’re zoning out, self-medicating or trying out the latest self care tip you heard about on that one podcast in an attempt to drown out the existential dread. Perhaps, like many of my clients, you're a stressed out college student, a frustrated millennial or a deep-feeling, introspective human of any age who needs some support.

In meeting individuals and families, my focus is to gain insight into the complex history of each person. After building a therapeutic relationship, I assess what modality would align with their specific needs. I like to set realistic and attainable goals with each client that I work with. Much of my past and current clientele has consisted of teens and college aged students working through transitions. I gather much of my experience from working as a recruiter for more than 15 years.

I specialize in working with parents who are parenting alone (single parent households), those parenting children with severe emotional or behavioral needs, and parents who are attempting to thrive after the loss of a child. These isolating experiences can consume the lives of a parent, and I work to help clients who desire to find more purpose and meaning in their lives while living with grief and loss.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
