It can be scary to reach out to a therapist because you want to make sure you can find someone who can connect with you or understand your family dynamics. I enjoy working with preteens, teens, young adults and parents. If you are a parent of a teen in therapy I will keep you involved in the process. If you are a parent, family or an individual who is seeking a therapist that places a high value on providing a safe judgment free zone I look forward to working with you and guiding you to realize your capacity for growth. Thank you for taking the time to read my profile and I look forward to getting to know you and your story!

Some of these areas include play therapy, self-harm behaviors, teen & young adult issues, and those battling with chronic illness such as diabetes and cancer (caregivers too!).
Let's face it. You've tried therapy before. It wasn't for you, and truly people don't understand you anyway. What would happen if you tried it one more time? Maybe you're wondering what life would look like if you started learning coping skills and began healing. Life can be challenging, and you don't have to venture through it alone. We can navigate through this together. As your therapist, I commit to supporting you on this adventure and beyond!

My areas of expertise are working with children, teen, and young adults that have been through trauma, are facing depression or anxiety, in need of coping skills, exploring different parts of their identity, or needing help growing their confidence.
My biggest goal in therapy is to help clients feel equipped to take on each day to their best ability. Whether that means learning and practicing coping skills, using EMDR to re-process past trauma and reduce triggers, growing your confidence and self-esteem, or just allowing space to better understand your thoughts and emotions, I will be with you every step of the way to support you through your therapeutic journey. I am a firm believer that therapy has the ability to truly improve your quality of life and relationships with those around you, and I hope that you will allow me to be a part of your process.

I imagine if you're here, it's because you're hurting. Things aren't going the way you want them to: Maybe your marriage or relationship isn't bringing you the joy it used to, or maybe it's driving you downright nuts. Maybe you aren't speaking to your kids, or maybe you are the kid or teen that just can't seem to get along with your parents or the people around you. Maybe things have gotten so bad that you've contemplated hurting yourself or suicide. Perhaps you're grieving a loss, a person, a job, a relationship. Or maybe you've tried to figure out why you're not as happy as you could be and you just can't.

Are you experiencing difficulties in your relationship ? How about struggling to get past a breakup or with self esteem ? If you're dealing with anxiousness, sadness, depression, overwhelming thoughts or having private breakdowns in the bathroom, it's time to schedule a session. If you're finding it hard raising a teenager who’s struggling in school, social settings or at home and they are feeling as if no one understands them, it's time to schedule a session. Having that extra support goes along way. I work with teenagers as young as 13 years old as well as individuals (adults), couples, and families.

In the midst of life's most challenging moments, I find solace in the words, "My willingness to look within is what empowers me to change." My journey through grief from a tender age ignited a profound calling within me to become a therapist and provide solace to others navigating their emotional landscapes. As a self-professed "professional communicator," I've long harbored a fervent passion for aiding individuals in their journeys toward healing and self-discovery. I am dedicated to fostering a nurturing environment where individuals can explore their innermost thoughts and feelings without judgment.

The pit in your stomach as you walk into the office. You meant to leave early, but you are running late, again. Hopefully the boss doesn’t notice. You have a to do list, that you left “somewhere around here”. At home, there is the bill pile next to the mail pile, but they disappear if you can’t see them. You have the best of intentions, but the missed appointments and missed deadlines are piling up. You tried one planner system, then another, but nothing ever seems to really change. The worst is this feeling that you are not living up to who you want to be… and it is hard to picture how to make this any better.

I won’t lie: therapy is hard. Reaching out to a new therapist may even be harder so I am glad you are here. I love working with LGBTQ people, members of the kink/poly community, neurodivergent folx, and childfree people who are struggling with feeling judged. I provide an affirming environment where you can be who you are (no masking required). I have a quirky sense of humor so it isn’t uncommon for there to be laughter in sessions along with all the other emotions and feelings that come with exploring things that may have been buried for a long time. It is never too late to create a beautiful life for yourself.

Teen Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.
How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.
How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.
How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
