Do you suffer under the effects of trauma? Do you find yourself stuck in destructive habits that undermine your life and relationships? If you struggle with grief, anxiety, or depression, I can help. Long to feel like yourself again? I would love to connect. Is your marriage hanging on by a thread and trust has been broken? Many couples feel a disconnect in their communication. If you both are willing to grow, you can learn how to show up more authentically and develop mutual respect and trust. If you wonder why you do the things you do, you can learn to connect the dots and grow out of old destructive patterns!

We don't always expect what life may throw in our direction. Sometimes, even what we would consider a positive change can stress or burden us in ways that make it difficult to feel like ourselves or function at our best. This can result in feeling depressed, anxious, hopeless about the future, or even paralyzed. Relationships change; death, major illness, or relationships ending can contribute to difficulty in living life the way we would like. I work best with individuals suffering from anxiety-related issues, regardless of gender, and those who are struggling with life transitions.

Life is hard and it can become overwhelming with all the difficulties we face daily. It is important for us to be heard and recognized in our struggles and challenges. I love to provide my clients and families a listening ear and safe space to be understood and valued in their stories, to recognize how past experiences inform their present and discover strengths they didn’t even know they had.

Above all, my goal as a therapist is to show that I genuinely care about you and what you are going through. Each of us encounter problems, at times in our lives. In order to overcome those problems, it is often helpful to have an outside perspective. I hope to be that outside perspective that you seek.

Sometimes we get disconnected from important others in our life. We can even feel disconnected from ourselves. We doubt our decisions, question our thoughts, and dismiss our feelings. Traumatic events like combat or abusive relationships as well as unrelenting daily stresses can create this discontent. Even if you feel established personally and professionally, ongoing stressors can cause an "unsettling" that interrupts your quality of life. Having a place to explore those conflicts can be helpful. Even if you're right where you want to be, you may want the space of therapy to reach and understand deeper parts of yourself.

Who am I? Why do I feel this way? Is there a way out? If you’ve lost your "spark" and aren't sure how to move forward, this is the place for you. I will walk with you as you navigate life’s challenges, while empowering and supporting you in individual growth. Let’s face it - life is hard. While we work so hard to take care of ourselves and others, it can sometimes feel like a lonely road to walk. In the words of Bob Dylan, “all I can be is me… whoever that is”. Whoever you are - you deserve to feel confident, happy, and at peace. I can help you get there.

Do you feel like you're constantly trying to live up to others' expectations, leaving little room for your true self? Many of us grew up conforming to what others expected of us, which can be exhausting and unfulfilling. You may find yourself struggling to balance your own needs with the demands of family, work, and society, feeling disconnected from who you truly are. It's common to carry the weight of past experiences, believing that our childhood has no impact on our present lives. However, these early experiences shape our behaviors and emotions in profound ways.

I believe the deepest human longing is to be known and loved. It is through connection we find fulfillment and satisfaction in life. Often, our adverse life experiences cause fear, anxiety, anger, shame, and confusion, which rob us of authentic relationships. It is my passion and life's commitment to support and assist others in finding their path of freedom so that they may live a rich and deeply connected life with those they love. Together we will explore and process what obstacles may be keeping the client from reaching goals, feeling stuck, and fully living.

I approach counseling with the belief that we are all seeking to understand truth and a meaningful life. My graduate training was an interactive strengths-based approach to treating creative and gifted adolescents who often felt alienated by value systems beyond their choosing. My goal as a clinician is to help clients understand the origin of their emotional struggle, and in doing so, we will reveal solutions to cognitive dissonance resulting from competing value systems. And while my Christian values inform my understanding of myself and the world around me, I will never impose those values on my clients.

Many individuals, adults, children and teens included, are affected by stress, trauma, unexpected life events and major life transitions or change. My work is dedicated toward seeing individuals succeed in life and achieve their God-given dreams, purpose and calling, by coming alongside individuals, couples and families to assist them to successfully navigate through life's challenges. I hope very much to help bring order and a sense of peace into chaos, in the situations individuals may be facing, that will help them heal, or to make changes or decisions with greater clarity and assuredness of better results.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
