I focus on the counseling of individuals, couples, and families. Within this framework, I often work in the areas of dysfunctional families, and individuals who are struggling to manage aggressive, angry, depressive, and anxious behaviors. I am experienced in working with children, adolescents, and adults. A variety of issues are addressed throughout the counseling process: including, but not limited to, communication skills, anger management, suicidal ideation, and mood and anxiety disorders. Currently, I work as a LMHP with a community base health center, as well.
I approach the counseling process from a Christian cognitive behavioral perspective, where patterns of irrational beliefs, thoughts, and behaviors are explored to assist in gathering the key understanding of mental health and mental illnesses— in order to better understand and serve the client. I view the clients as persons and not as their diagnosis.
I provide an environment in which empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuiness are present. The clients’ presenting problems are explored, in order to better understand them and together develop effective solutions towards achieving their goals and objective.
