I enjoy helping those who are looking for help and solutions to their problems. I began working for those with relationship issues and sexual addictions. I have worked with women and children dealing with various trauma-related situations.

Are you having struggles with your job or relationships? Are you feeling worried or down? I can help you to find the solutions you seek. I encourage clients to bring their pets if they wish (primarily dogs, cats tend to freak out!) My goal is to help you to feel comfortable and relaxed. I am trained in hypnosis and EMDR. I have a very non-critical, supportive style. My hours are very flexible, so they work with any schedule. Give me a call or email me and we can get started making all your problems disappear!

Most of the people I see are aching to be seen and understood at a deep level. Many have felt invisible for a long time. I believe that each person I work with is a unique and complex individual needing support that is considerate of their individual situation.

Not accepting new clients
Not accepting new individual therapy clients. I still do letters for gender affirming surgeries and have openings in my gender dysphoria groups. I strive to provide a compassionate, safe, caring, and nonjudgmental space where you can be yourself, express your emotions and thoughts, and feel heard. We live in uncertain, unpredictable times and the need for self-care and connection is greater than before. Know that whatever you are feeling is normal and you are not alone. Remember too that crises can also be opportunities for growth. I am here to help you navigate your life with compassion, healing, and understanding.

On the outside you look like you are put together and can do it all, but inside you feel like a imposter and will never be good enough. You constantly come up with a list of all the things that you need to be better at, do better at. You fall last on your list because what happens if everyone else needs are not met? What happens if you are not perceived as having it together. You're exhausted, broken, and sooo OVER IT. That is where I would like to say to you, "you deserve to be loved and cared for too".

Mary's approach is with understanding individuals are part of a family, marital, social and work system. We are emotional attached and impact/influence others. Sometimes it’s difficult to know how to act, think or respond that can resolve the issues or lessen tension. Having a neutral, understanding therapist to process and clarify thinking is vital. Working towards seeing the whole picture can help stuck behavior by finding practical, beneficial ways of movement or problem-solving. Experienced with infertility, adoptions, life-altering health diagnosis, parenting concerns, conflict, grief/loss, divorce, anxiety, life purpose.

What it’s like to come in for therapy? Therapy is about sharing vulnerability that you may not have experienced before, or at least not experienced positively before. We’re not friends, but we have a connection that we build that is professionally intimate and caring. Therapy is about analysis and making meaning of things that you have gone through and are presently dealing with. Sometimes that presents challenges to a person, things that are occurring with us are tough to look at and face- that’s why I’m here. I will help you look at things that are hard to take in and help you to either accept and appreciate or accept and change.

You want to feel authentic and empowered, but you are struggling to calm insecurities and negative self-talk. You may be fed up with the constant overthinking, imposter syndrome, or that you just can’t let things go. You might even remember a time things didn’t feel this way. But one thing is for sure: you’re ready for some relief. You’re ready to understand why this is happening. You are ready to feel confident and assertive in your life. Most of all, you’re ready to feel unbothered and happy with yourself.

I have a very direct yet gentle approach to getting to know who you are and how best to help you break through barriers and other debilitating problems you may be facing. Sometimes, these problems may be a result of lifelong issues; other times, it may be a result of a temporary change in your life such as divorce, loss, or a recent trauma. I work with you to discover new approaches and solutions for the task at hand. I am not traditional, sometimes mouthy, and a bit wacky at times, but I will walk with you through the process until you can walk alone. My heart does get involved at times because being human is all I know.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.
Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
