I believe compassion and empathy create the foundation for clients to develop greater insight and self-awareness. My approach to therapy is collaborative working to resolve mental and emotion stressors that impede one's ability to achieve their goals. I work with clients to identify maladaptive communication patterns, resolve conflict, transition to a new stage in life or career, and foster each individual’s innate skills, knowledge, and growth.

Perhaps your child/teen is having difficulty at home or in school. I have experience working with clients of all ages, and tailor my approach to each individual.

Since earning degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and Columbia University, I have helped people work through difficulties, including peer and family conflict, addiction, depression, anxiety, divorce, and grief.
We're all faced with challenges, big and small. Sometimes these grow to overpower and overwhelm us. The adults, children, and families I work with say that I help them feel heard, valued, comfortable, and that I provide a safe place to explore options and pick the right solutions.

Some patterns are helpful to your goals, while others can hurt your relationships, create anxiety, and undermine your efforts toward change.
You may find the life you are living isn't healthy, or is in need of some change. With over 20 years in private practice, I have had the opportunity to help men and women make significant improvements in their relationships and in their life direction. If you are an individual needing to make a significant change, or a couple needing relationship help, I offer an individualized and practical approach. First, we will find what isn't working for you and identify the core changes you want to make. Then, together we will map out realistic steps to make that change happen.

I'm trained in "Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing" (EMDR--for trauma, anxiety, among other issues).
I provide psychological assessment and psychotherapy services. Though I understand the value of "diagnosing" a person's particular problem, I'm definitely against labeling a person as such. A person's difficulties--you name it: anxiety, trauma, depression--is what it means in part to be human. Everyone has some type of challenge, to various degrees (and certainly, some more than others). What a client requires, in many cases, is adequate resolution about negative things that has happened to him or her in life. Also, clients often need new skills in dealing with life's current and future expected challenges.

My goal is to provide a safe and non-judgmental space in which you can feel heard and accepted. I most often work with individuals (ages 12+) struggling with anxiety, trauma, stress, or relationship issues. I also offer couples counseling and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy. I utilize a variety of evidenced-based techniques, including EMDR, mindfulness-based interventions, and self-regulation skills.

I have experience working with symptoms of anxiety, depression, trauma and abuse, infertility, and grief and loss.
It is a true honor to meet my clients in the therapeutic space. I am reminded each time I meet a new client of the immense bravery and vulnerability it takes to show up for yourself. I believe therapy can help to ground us in the present, while exploring the parts of ourselves that need attention. The therapeutic space can serve as a holding container, while the internal and external work happens. My vision is to offer a safe environment to express your thoughts and emotions while in connection with one another.

It is a privilege to work with clients on personal and relational health, healing attachment wounds, creating a more secure sense of identity, and understanding one's sense of purpose while navigating the emotional distress that comes from my client's experiences with trauma, anxiety, depression, rejection, resentment, grief, infidelity, and disappointment.
The path to wellness and freedom involves choosing to start or continue a journey of healing and restoration. My desire is to help individuals, couples, and families along their own unique paths of transformation, change, and growth. I believe that emotional and relational wellness are an important piece of a holistic picture of health. I am a proponent of therapy because I have personally experienced the benefits and the sense of empowerment that comes from the process.

I enjoy helping people battling depression, anxiety, mental/emotional neglect, cultural identify conflict, and complex family issues.
Hey there! I'm glad you found my profile. I got into counseling personally because I experienced hope and healing when I was alone, addicted, and in a dark place. Growing up as an Asian-American, I was told that I needed to study more and pray more when I wasn't doing well. Everything changed for me when I experienced a healthy, authentic connection with God, my youth pastor, and my professional counselor. I began my own journey of self-discovery and realized that I'm here to help others find out who they are and become more confident and resilient.

Do you feel constantly overwhelmed & burnt out, but can't seem to say "no" to anyone? Do you find yourself going above & beyond for everyone else & just wanting the same in return? Do you feel like you don't know who you are, but there is a part of you that feels like she isn't good enough? I help women just like you learn how to navigate relationships, build self-confidence, challenge anxious thoughts, & learn how create healthy boundaries-all of the the stuff you wish they taught in school. It might feel like changing things in your life is impossible or that taking care of you is selfish, but you deserve as much love as you give.

I work with people, not diagnoses; you are much more than your diagnosis! I have a particular interest in with working with adults living with the effects of trauma, anxiety, and depression.
I believe change is possible for all of us, and I have seen that change develop in many clients over the course of a collaborative treatment. I believe that, working together, we can develop a rich and fulfilling understanding of each client’s personality. I'm trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis, and I use that frame to provide an environment that promotes awareness and growth. I have also used components of cognitive behavioral and dialectic behavioral services in outpatient group therapy, and I blend these tools with the psychodynamic frame to provide an individualized approach.

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
