Sometimes life is hard. We experience stress, difficult experiences, wounding in relationships, and trauma along with many other experiences. We carry these with us and they show up in our daily lives - in our thoughts, emotions, physical body, relationships with others, relationship with our self. Maybe you've noticed feeling stuck and overwhelmed. Weighed down. Maybe anxious. Maybe you've noticed patterns in your relationships. Maybe physical discomfort and pain. Tension in your body. Maybe you're curious about what you're noticing. Or maybe you’re curious about who YOU are – the authentic you.

It is a privilege to work with clients on personal and relational health, healing attachment wounds, creating a more secure sense of identity, and understanding one's sense of purpose while navigating the emotional distress that comes from my client's experiences with trauma, anxiety, depression, rejection, resentment, grief, infidelity, and disappointment.
The path to wellness and freedom involves choosing to start or continue a journey of healing and restoration. My desire is to help individuals, couples, and families along their own unique paths of transformation, change, and growth. I believe that emotional and relational wellness are an important piece of a holistic picture of health. I am a proponent of therapy because I have personally experienced the benefits and the sense of empowerment that comes from the process.

Are you struggling with depression, anxiety, anger, trauma, or relationship issues? Do you feel alone, like no one could possibly understand what you're going through? I'd like to help. I help people find the strength they need to climb out of the hole that leaves them feeling stuck. I believe people can be burdened by previous life experiences, causing them to feel paralyzed. Figuring out and understanding the difficulties of your past can help you move on and experience joy in your present and future.

As a practitioner of Jungian, depth, and psychodynamic psychotherapy, I specialize in supporting those who feel stuck, down, depressed, or anxious; those who are searching for purpose, calling, or meaning; and those who are interested in incorporating dreamwork into the therapeutic process. Often, when we find ourselves at a standstill or in a crisis, our potential for healing and transformation comes from the unconscious side of the psyche. Since 2014, I have specialized in supporting veterans as they seek to heal and transform after war and military service, as well as first responders in search of healing.

Whether it’s anxiety, worry, regret, or shame; we’ll work toward compassion and understanding, allowing peace and acceptance to be cultivated.
Maybe your anxiety or stress is compounded by intersectional identities such as gender, sexuality, or race. Maybe you find yourself doom scrolling on social media in order to numb the world around you, have difficulty communicating with loved ones, or are searching for your sense of self after years of being told your true self was not enough. Maybe it’s even 2 am as you read this after a sleepless hour of thinking about all the embarrassing things that you’ve experienced. Now, wait. Take a breath, notice anything coming up for you and acknowledge it. It can be here without disrupting your purpose.

My areas of focus include LGBTQIA+, gender and sexuality, trauma, sexual violence, anxiety and depression, relationships, communication skills, and navigating life changes.
People often wonder what they can expect out of therapy. In my practice, you can expect for me to match your dedication to making changes in your life and deepening your understanding of yourself. You can expect to receive psychoeducation as needed. You can expect curiosity and collaboration. You can expect a soft and tender reprieve from the world. You can expect direct communication and transparency about the therapy process. You can expect me to account for both individual and systemic factors impacting you. My practice is LGBTQIA+, poly, and kink-affirming.

Fear, anxiety, depression, self-doubt, addiction, and loneliness can feel like a pressure cooker.
Welcome to Cicada Song counseling! As a lifelong mental health advocate and a therapist for over a decade I have developed three convictions central to my practice (1) Your relationship with your therapist should be collaborative and authentic. (2) Therapy is not just about talk. It’s about progress towards quality of life (3) You already contain everything you need to heal. I aim to provide space where you can build security within yourself to move through pain. We will identify and build upon your existing strengths and coping skills. We will use curiosity to reflect on challenging memories and develop new perspectives.

Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is an advanced treatment for mental distress caused by maladaptive patterns of thoughts and behaviors. KAP is a relational experience. A psychotherapist will guide and support you, and integrate the healing that occurs during the expansiveness of the ketamine experience. This treatment has shown significant improvement in those with mood disorders and PTSD symptoms. Additionally, I was a lead facilitator in two clinical trials using psychedelic medicine and completed a psychedelic assisted therapy training with a focus on end of life care. Hello, my name is Caleb and the reason I love counseling is because It brings me immense joy to support people in their journey towards becoming the best versions of themselves. I strongly believe that people are inherently good, but life can be challenging and sometimes it can be difficult to see the good in ourselves. Although we cannot change our past circumstances or experiences.

I believe that we are all in the process of becoming. But at times, we all get stuck or lost along the way. In those stuck points, it can feel disheartening and the idea of getting out becomes daunting. I will journey with you through these points and help you rediscover your trajectory. Sometimes rediscovering that becoming looks like reigniting what used to give us life and sometimes it looks like finding new ways of being that help us to feel rooted and whole.

In the words of Glennon Doyle, “Wasn’t it all supposed to be more beautiful than this?” I believe that deep healing is a process of connection, freedom, and joy. I aim to tailor my therapeutic approach to your individual needs and circumstances. Therapy should be about YOU and starts with compassion and understanding. Everything you bring to my office is welcome.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
