As a Somatic Practitioner, I support nervous system regulation and flexibility, so that you can have access to a full range of responses to life - versus being stuck in an anxious mood, depressed mode or numbness.
I help women 35 + find more capacity for ease, joy and healthy relationships. You might feel out of sync if you are carrying unhealed trauma. We can feel anxious, stuck in life, depressed or numb. I support healing in gentle ways, through grounded science; through supporting the body-mind to work better together. Many women I see are doing pretty well in life, and something has changed and they need some support to get through it.

I am certified in AEDP, EMDR, and am a student of Somatic Experiencing.
I am passionate about helping people who struggle with anxiety, addiction, developmental trauma, depression, and relational issues. At the core of my approach is an attitude of warmth, acceptance, and faith in my client's innate capacity for healing and transformation. Often people come to therapy with a sense of disempowerment. The impulse to reach out in hope of finding a caring, safe, or 'true other' shows your innate wisdom and strength. We are all in desperate need of help and connection. The implicit hope is that you can do more than just survive.

Do you feel emotionally exhausted or stuck with the weight of life stressors or traumatic and painful experiences? Do you feel you spend a lot of your time trying to make sure everyone else is ok before you care for yourself? We can have a strong inner critic or develop coping strategies that at one point may have served us to protect ourselves, but now may be hindering our ability to connect and love ourselves or others. I want to help you connect back to yourself and values so you can go from surviving to thriving. Therapy can provide a healing space for you to let go of pain and let love and acceptance back into your life.

As humans, we are each created for connection, and when personal connections are broken it can cause problems in our lives. I strive to create a space to allow emotional exploration and vulnerability without judgment or criticism. We each have the capacity to experience joy through our own acceptance and love for self and others and when we experience acceptance and love from another we can find that joy. I desire to walk alongside each person as they explore their own unique journey. I also have a Masters Level Intern that can see client for as low as $30 per session.

Sometimes, life is just hard! You think you have it all together and then something happens and you realize you just can’t keep going on in the same way. You need new and healthy coping skills, a different kind of support and a better connection and guidance. To me, that’s where finding a great therapist comes in. Find a therapist who believes that everyone has strengths and the capacity to live a life full of joy, happiness and wholeness; like I do. Lastly, find a therapist who will take your healing journey with you, be your cheerleader, yet also gently hold you accountable for your ultimate goals; like I will.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
