I believe that we all develop and possess our own unique stories that give our lives meaning. We are each the authors and experts of our own stories, but sometimes we can get stuck in stories that restrict our growth and possibilities. I strive to provide a safe and non-judgmental place for you to explore those stories and to rewrite them so that they better support your goals and values, empowering you to live out those values in meaningful and fulfilling ways.

As I've grown in the field of therapy, one thing I have clung to is the desire to give my clients a safe space that they can come to. As a respected professor once quoted Carl Whittaker, "if you are going to do surgery in therapy, make sure to dip the scalpel in the anesthetic of love". Therapy is not always easy and neither is life. I may not be able to promise that the road to healing is easy, but I can promise to walk through this valley with you.

I have served the Peoria area in various therapeutic roles over the past 8 years working with children and adolescents in residential and community-based programs. These experiences have provided me with a wealth of clinical knowledge and anecdotal experiences to provide each client with a holistic approach that addresses all factors of their functioning. Through this, I am able to match clients with their identified goals and actualize their ideal self to lead healthy, fulfilling lives. Every client has the capability to achieve their goals, and I provide the framework to assist them in reaching these goals.

Deciding to start therapy is a brave, difficult decision! You may find you are in a situation where you feel like you are stuck, have no where to turn, or are navigating some of the most difficult times of your life. I find that people are looking to be heard, to feel safe, and to find support. Having the experience of being listened to, of being validated, and being supported can be the beginning of the process of healing. I work to create a warm, safe, and open therapeutic space for you to bring any emotion you may be feeling. Together, we can navigate the challenges you are facing and work towards your path to healing.

Inspired by 20 years of working with individuals and families, I use a compassionate strengths-based perspective to help children, youth, parents and caregivers discover their potential, repair harms of the past, and build a bright future. I work with people to help them manage the challenges in all stages of life. I meet client’s where they are at and use a creative approach to help them explore where they would like to go. Above all, I bring compassion and safety to the therapeutic space.

I work well with clients from all walks of life who have identified that something is not working for them and they would like to enhance their "tool set." While I am able to work with a wide range of issues, the most common that tend to present themselves are related to changes in life, anxiety, or depression. I believe that each person tries to do the best they can with what they have. Sometimes what we have is not quite enough for a problem and we need to learn a more effective way of dealing with issues. It is not in my ability to change a person, I only help them change themselves to the degree they are willing.

No one is meant to go through this life alone, although it may feel this way. If you have been struggling lately with situations, events, or mental health symptoms, you are in the right place. You’ve taken the first step in looking for a counselor, and many times that can be the hardest step. My passion is supporting my clients through person-centered, cognitive behavioral therapies and empowering my clients with the necessary tools they need to succeed. I incorporate client interests, such as reading, music, sports, art, and writing, into our sessions to best support clients as they are working through the therapeutic process.
