Sometimes life can get rough. Relationships can feel disconnected or heavy with resentment and distrust. Sex and intimacy can get lost in the shuffle of every day. Babies can come along making life feel completely out of control. Through it all, maybe you feel like you just don’t have what it takes, or you feel stuck in cycles of worry, sadness or loneliness. Here’s the good news: CHANGE IS POSSIBLE. Better yet, you have within you what it takes to make it happen. Together through therapy we can work to identify, challenge and reimagine the undesirable aspects of your life and relationships, making space for something better.

I provide individual therapy in a casual, relaxed atmosphere. I act as a guide and challenge you to explore what and why things may not be "working" in your life, as well as provide support and feedback to you about the patterns in your relationships. Finding a therapist who is a "good fit" for you can be difficult, so call me and we can discuss what you are looking for further.

I've found it helpful in my practice to be direct and to the point, while maintaining professional and nurturing relationships with my clients.
I believe strongly in modeling healthy boundaries, and helping clients to strengthen their own. I love what I do, and I know my clients can sense that.
I think my clients can also sense the great respect I have for them. Asking for help is never easy. Especially when one feels vulnerable.

When a client comes to me for psychotherapy the first goal is to fully understand the nature of their discontent in the context of a warm, open, nonjudgmental space. We work together to create a vision of what it will look like when the client is feeling more content, and then within the therapeutic relationship move toward change that will realize the client's vision. I am a combination of warm, supportive, directive, interpretive, and reflective. The therapy may be short term or long term, and may be individual or with significant others (family or partner).

Text Lou at 312.593.7527 to leave a message - http://www.louwalsh.com - (Elizabeth L Fisk Walsh, NPI 1871568584) "How are you going to fix me?" clients will sometimes ask. Because I believe that motivated people are capable of making changes in their lives, I encourage clients to accept responsibility for their own choices. I enjoy seeing people feel more confident about making independent decisions. Whether they have relationship issues, anxiety, fears, depression, or just ways they need to make small adjustments to their way of being, it is gratifying for me to provide the assistance as I watch them "fix" themselves.

I have been working in the field of psychotherapy since 2004, helping clients cope primarily with anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, and life changes. My undergraduate degree is from the University of Missouri, and I taught Language Arts on the high school level for two years. As a teacher, the limits of the classroom environment prevented me from reaching many of my troubled students, which led me to pursue a graduate degree from Loyola University-Chicago in Community Counseling.

My aim in therapy is to help people reach their full potential in life. I do this through developing a strong relationship with those I work with. Through this working relationship, it is my goal to assist individuals in breaking free of past conditioning through self-discovery and self-awareness. I help individuals, discover their strengths, make better choices, and transition from their internal critical conversation to an accepting and nurturing voice of confidence and love.

Our early childhood experiences lay the foundation for how we perceive ourselves, others, and the world. In many instances, difficult developmental experiences can impact our ability to live meaningful and satisfying lives, and it is my goal to help individuals recover from the pain of their past. I have a passion for working with individuals who look to learn more about themselves, and desire to grow mentally, emotionally, relationally, and spiritually.

Treatment involves investing in your mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional well-being, and is well worth the effort! Developmental factors, relationships, grief, stress, anxiety, depression, transitions, and trauma all impact our natural ability to maintain balance and live happier and more satisfying lives. Often, the first goal of treatment is to identify the reason for problems. I conduct comprehensive neuropsychological testing across the lifespan, to clarify diagnosis, identify learning disabilities, and assess behavioral, emotional, and social problems, to provide concrete recommendations and an action plan for treatment.
