Our work together will help you identify the unique patterns of communication specific to you and your family. Five years ago I took the plunge and opened my own clinical practice. I am passionate and committed to my clients as they share, in confidence, the stories of their lives.

I am a compassionate counselor that believes in the power of warm healthy relationships to heal the distress of challenging life experiences. I take a creative and mindful approach to therapy with an emphasis on personal strengths and goal direction. With respect, humor, acceptance and empowerment, I work to increase awareness and understanding and assist you in viewing yourself and your world in positive and exciting new ways. We will collaborate to find a path of personal growth that feels right for you.

Clients I serve are typically curious about their wounds - psychological and other. They are interested in examining the connections, complications, and complexes of their inner vs outer self as well as any aspects of themselves they find uncomfortable or distressing. My hope is to serve clients in transforming unknown aspects of their being into opportunities for enduring growth and healing through reworking, reclaiming, reintegrating, and meaning-making.

To "know thyself" - to wake up to yourself, is the most worthy of quests. I work with mind, body, and spirit to bring you back to yourself. The body never lies. When we tune into the body we find our own truth, wisdom, and guidance. This happens when we calm down, relax, and pay attention. There are often emotions or experiences that have waited years to be acknowledged and expressed. It doesn't work to close the door on the past. Until we review, process, and open to healing we tend to re-capitulate the events in our past.

Although I have worked in agencies, hospitals and group practices, I think some of my best training has come from navigating a 24 year marriage, raising kids, and launching them into adulthood. During my 20 years of servicing children and families, I have supported clients who were experiencing trauma related to grief and loss, sexual assault, first generation related responsibilities, low self-esteem, cultural expectations, dating violence, gun violence and major life transitions. Often, their goals were to manage their circumstances or become empowered to lift themselves out of their uncomfortable experience they were encountering. Their desire was to find tangible ways to not only cope with their stress, but to resolve the impact it had on their wellbeing and mental health.

She earned a dual degree in Psychology and Gender, Sexuality, and Feminism studies from Duke University where she fell in love with the idea of holistic treatment. She then earned her Master’s in Social Work from Loyola University Chicago to gain further knowledge about treating an individual from an internal and external perspective.
