I have over 20 years experience in the field with emphasis that last 10 years in treating depression, anxiety, relationship issues and trauma. Most of us need to make the time and commitment to moving forward with our goals in life. For some of us our internal dialogue with ourselves could be described as anything but kind. We can be critical, self-deprecating, or devaluing of our experience due to past traumas that have informed a part of who we are, shame or guilt associated with our identity, or fear of experiencing ourselves as selfish. At times we can be so angry with ourselves for feeling that we are trapped in a cycle of attempting to do enough for others to finally have permission to be ourselves. This anger can give way to burn out, isolation, depression, and resignation. It can feel impossible to break out of that space.

Maegan Jenkins is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist specializing in the treatment of Obsessive-Compulsive disorder and anxiety disorders. Dr. Jenkins received her Bachelors of Science in Psychology from Bradley University and her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Midwestern University. Dr. Jenkins trained at the Center for Anxiety and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorders at Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital and at the Anxiety Centers of Illinois. She has treated anxiety in various environments including inpatient settings, outpatient settings, group therapy formats, as well as completing in vivo exposures within the home and community settings.

Plum Tree is a collection of practitioners who provide therapy and medication management for kids. We conduct psychological and neuropsychological testing for academic, diagnostic, and clinical disorders. Our team includes specialists for Tourette’s, PTSD, Suicide/Self-Injury, ADHD, Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Depression, and Bipolar Disorder. Developmental delays, impaired self-esteem, grief, academic under-performance, and family struggles are all within our purview to support. While not all sessions are appropriate for Animal Assisted Psychotherapy, the addition of Canine Co-therapists has been met with positive feedback.

Conditions commonly assessed include learning disabilities, autism, ADHD, memory impairments including dementia, mood disorders, defiance, and presurgical evaluations. Referrals commonly come from schools, pediatricians, neurologists, psychiatrists, occupational and speech therapy settings, and local counselors, among others.

I Have worked in the areas of substance abuse and mental health for the past 29 years. I work with clients between the ages of 16 and 60. I have a strong interests in addictions, impulse control and personality disorders.
