Theressa is on maternity leave effective 3/9/23 and not taking any new clients. I bring an authentic, compassionate, straightforward, and collaborative approach to my work with clients. I believe in the power of genuine connection as a strong motivator for change. I aim to provide a trusting and supportive environment, in which clients feel comfortable and cared for no matter the circumstances. I believe offering education and supportive guidance are critical elements of the therapy process. Much of my work is centered around gender – from issues surrounding identity exploration, to social/medical transition, to gender dysphoria, to gender-identity-related interpersonal challenges. Some of my favorite work is in helping to bridge the communication gaps between teens and their families after a teen has come out as trans/gender nonconforming! I also have experience with depression, anxiety, substance use, military families, sexuality and sexual health, emetophobia (phobia of vomit), phase-of-life challenges, uncertainty/anxiety about the future, kink/BDSM, and partner conflict/miscommunication.

Maybe you’re finding it difficult to resolve conflict with others and manage and regulate your emotions when you’re feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or anxious. Maybe you’re currently at a point in your life where you’ve experienced a life changing event or going through a transition. Relationships, communication, and life in general can be extremely challenging and overwhelming. I want you to know that you don’t have to deal with things on your own. I am here to help and would love the opportunity to walk alongside you on your journey.

I have experience working with individuals with anxiety, panic attacks/disorders, depression, PTSD, ADHD, and autism; I also specialize in immigrant and refugee mental health. I utilize several modalities, including ACT and DBT, and I am currently an EMDR therapist in training. I am bilingual and can provide therapy services in Spanish and English, including EMDR therapy. I enjoy working with people ages 10 and older.
