I work as a therapist because I believe we can experience real healing in our lives. The broken world in which we live frequently leaves scars and wounds. And we often wound others. As a Christian therapist I believe God heals significantly. I work with Christians and non Christians alike with respect for individual values and beliefs. Therapy begins with developing a respectful, trusting relationship. The client and therapist begin a journey to enable the client to reconcile, their past, their present, and their beliefs. It can enable them to work toward future goals successfully.

My goal in working with clients is to provide support, compassion, and accountability as well as to offer resources and tools to empower individuals, increase their confidence, and further begin to identify and make progress in achieving their goals. I believe that treatment should not be conducted as a one size fits all approach; instead I desire to work in collaboration with clients to identify and progress in achievement of client specific goals through therapeutic interventions utilizing evidence based treatment and therapeutic modalities.

Most of my clients come to me with anxiety, obsessive compulsive, or trauma disorders. They find their worlds shrinking as a result and aren't sure how to break the cycle. For clients with anxiety and trauma disorders, I use exposure therapy to break cycles of fear, anxiety, and avoidance. I also see clients troubled by marginalization due to identity, relationship struggles, substance use, and psychotic disorders, and they too deal with pain that gets in the way of what's important in their lives. They often feel trapped or stuck and want to find a way through the barriers keeping them from meaning and purpose in their lives.

My client may feel misunderstood or isolated. They seek a safe, affirming space to explore their emotions and experiences. Their needs include coping strategies, a sense of belonging, and self-compassion to reduce self-criticism and promote healing. Their goals are to cultivate resilience, improve emotional regulation, and find purpose and meaning. They may be navigating the complexities of their experiences: Trauma, identity, and intense emotions. They want someone who listens, understands, challenges, and supports their growth. They want to feel empowered in a future where they thrive authentically.

Client diversity is my favorite part of being a therapist. I am open to working with anyone, no matter what issues, needs, and goals they bring to our relationship. My ideal client is simply motivated by a desire for change and has a strong commitment to the process of self-discovery. Navigating change requires a measure of courage, and some episodes of self-discovery may be uncomfortable. My ideal client will understand that each new challenge is simply a part of the overall discovery and growth process. Clients who strive to “face the fear and do it anyway” are usually a good fit with me.
