I am a board-certified therapist with a Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor. I was clinically trained as a social worker by the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Michigan Health System Depression Center, where I also conducted research on a variety of mental health issues.

Dr. Heather Farrow is a clinical psychologist who currently works at the Detroit VA Medical Center where she provides individual and group therapy to veterans who have been diagnosed with substance use and mental health disorders. She has also worked as a school psychologist in Lincoln Park, Michigan and taught English to middle, high school and adult education students, as well as a middle school special education resource room teacher for children with learning disabilities, autism, cognitive and emotional impairments in Detroit Public Schools.

Our founder was selected prestigiously as a University of Michigan field faculty instructor. We are a Mental Health Therapy office. Our founder has a Master's Degree from the number one school in clinical social work in the United States of America; the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor and was clinically trained as a social worker psychotherapist by the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Michigan Health System, where she also conducted research on a variety of mental health issues and continue to work with communities and groups of diverse backgrounds.

My approach is collaborative and based on goals shared throughout the process. Ultimately, I aim to maintain a cooperative, safe experience, and to help my clients recognize their own wisdom and strength so they can gain confidence and ownership of their life.

I was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan and recently returned to begin my career as a clinical social worker. I previously worked as a Director of Audience Services for several large not-for-profit theaters in Chicago, where I developed my interest in working closely with individuals and groups. In my free time I enjoy gardening, hiking, and spending time with my dogs. I approach work with each Client from a non-hierarchical perspective: I learn with and through my Clients how best to assist them in reaching their goals.

I enjoy helping clients walk through their past to help them learn how to enjoy the present while creating a great future by changing their thinking to better influence their actions and feelings. I have experience working with those in the criminal justice system. I also have experience working with domestic violence batterers and survivors. Those experiencing depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and anger management problems will feel comfortable sharing their experience.

I have been working with individuals and families in both community and mental health focused positions for over 5 years. I received my MSW from the University of Michigan and have experience working with adolescents and adults. Therapeutically, I strive to utilize holistic approaches to wellness that both align with the individual’s personality and lifestyle.

I worked in the field of Veterinary Medicine for over ten years where I gained a deep understanding and passion for the human-animal bond, inspiring me to pursue a career in Social Work with a focus on Animal-Assisted Therapy. I care immensely and advocate for the well-being and empowerment of my clients to live the life they want to live. I am often accompanied by my dog Limbo, who is in the process of becoming a certified therapy dog. He is what I lovingly refer to as a "Dognitive Behavioral Therapist".

I excel at creating a space where clients feel safe, welcomed, and empowered. I earned my Master of Social Work from Capella University because I love helping others find ways to overcome the challenges in their lives. I have experience practicing in the community mental health field working with children, adults, and families. I graduated from Wayne State University with my master’s degree in Social Work. I am trained in CBT, DBT, MI, and PE, among various other specialties. Since I was a child, I always knew I wanted to help people. I have personally experienced many of life’s challenges and can relate to my clients on a deeper level. I care strongly about each of my clients and want to help everyone be an advocate for themselves. Life can be very chaotic thus I have made it my mission to be a strong support and comfort to those I work with.

I received my degree in Clinical Psychology from the Chicago School of Psychology. I spent years at the University of California, San Francisco, in the Hyperactivity, Attention and Behavior Problems Clinic where I focused on psychoeducational evaluations and behavioral interventions for childhood diagnoses.
