Dr. Jim Gedra is a licensed psychologist who works with adolescents and adults. He obtained his doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Xavier University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Wright State University. Dr. Gedra has previously been a professor of psychology at the University of Findlay and Murray State University. His previous clinical experience involves working with adolescents and adults at university counseling centers, community mental health centers, and psychiatric hospitals.

I believe that every day should be filled with joy! But sometimes in life that is not always easy to do. I have spent the last 25 years practicing in South Carolina, Ohio, and Oregon, working to help individuals and families find their personal joy and maintain it. My niche clinical practice focuses on women's issues- particularly within the areas of loss and grief, physical and sexual trauma, and maternal mental health. My experience as a grief and trauma therapist services women who experience emotional and behavioral issues in response to miscarriage, infertility, postpartum depression, and other women’s issues that involve mood disorders, anxiety and decreased relationship satisfaction.

He graduated from Ohio University with a master's degree in Counselor Education with a focus on Clinical Mental Health and Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling as well as a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences with a minor in Psychology. He draws from Person-Centered, CBT, and Existential therapeutic techniques and has specialized interest in working with trauma, anger, depression, and anxiety.

I am a trained EMDR therapist, and have experience in many different areas: mood disorders, post-partum depression, anxiety and panic disorders, trauma, stress and anger management, childhood trauma, and adoption issues, as well as helping people cope with medical issues. Additionally, I am trained in IADC--this helps address the deep sadness of loss, with the possibility of experiencing a deeper connection and/or experience with the deceased.
