My specializations include eating disorders/disordered eating, body-image/self-worth, trauma, LGBTQ+, anxiety, relationships, grief/loss, depression, boundary setting, and emerging adulthood.
Welcome! I work to create a non-judgmental safe space to make individuals feel comfortable with opening up and making treatment individual to you. Often, we can lose sight of the things that make our life rich and meaningful because life gets messy. I aim to learn about the unique aspects of yourself that make you who you are in order to best treat you. I adapt components of branches of therapy such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and EMDR to meet your needs and develop new and effective strategies. My ultimate goal is to empower you to meet your goals, connect to your values, and feel you have control back in your life.

If you or your loved one is struggling with eating, sleep, motivation, or schoolwork, these can be indicators that life is out of balance. These are common signs of depression, anxiety, eating disorders, or PTSD. Having a child who is struggling to keep afloat can feel overwhelming, and recovery may feel like an insurmountable task. I provide evidence-based treatment for children, adolescents and young adults using Family Based Treatment (FBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Intuitive Eating, and CPT. I am here to guide you through the stages of treatment towards recovery and improvement of your life and family functioning.

I am a clinical counselor that works with clients that are struggling with various concerns, symptoms and diagnosis, but my unique focus areas are Eating Disorders (restrictive types), OCD and anxiety disorders. This overall often includes, but is not limited to clients with personalities that are anxious in nature, Type A, or over-controlled. These can be challenging personalities, because individuals are often seen as thriving, but underneath they're struggling with subjects such as perfection, difficulty with change, feeling overwhelmed or other just to keep up. We'll work together to break the unknown habits to improve your life

We come into this world oriented to our own bodies and needs; yet along the way, we're told our bodies are the problem and learn to distrust them. If you're struggling with disordered eating, perfectionism, anxious thought spirals, body image distress, burnout, or obsessive thoughts, your body is speaking to you in some way or another. My passion is supporting women, particularly those in early adulthood and motherhood, truly listen and reconnect to themselves so we can move toward a world of collective liberation for all.

My goal in therapy is to provide my clients with the space that they are needing. I am skills-based in my therapy and am happy to provide education and practice with coping skills. I work toward client-centered goals with you and look at any barriers to meeting those goals. I myself am diagnosed with ADHD and love to hold space for those that are neurodivergent and provide a place to take down your mask. Body image and self-esteem are also topics that I am passionate about exploring with my clients if there is interest in that.

Throughout our lives many of us develop defenses and behaviors to survive. We may find in time that these ways of survival no longer serve us, and our current life goals or circumstances but instead keep us feeling trapped. Our once understandable attempts to avoid pain may have left us feeling disconnected from ourselves and others. Your true self is not your survival strategies.

There are so many of us who have felt like outsiders our entire lives, pretending to be someone else to fit in. Learning to unmask is a scary and also liberating process of accepting who we truly are. Whether you've been formally diagnosed or suspect that you are Autistic or ADHD, you deserve therapy that doesn't expect you to change your brain to reach your goals. We will work together collaboratively to better understand the way your brain works and embrace the differences that make you, you! We will focus on using your natural strengths to help you reach the goals you set for yourself.

I provide trauma-informed care to women and men, and couples therapy. I want to help clarify whatever it is you want to heal. What is it that you aren't getting from your environment that leads you to overwork, over think, isolate or continue habits you already know don't serve you? To communicate better in your relationships I will use what I’ve learned to help guide you in how to disagree without hurting, highlight what is already working, and uncover the struggles you face to get to the core reasons why we get stuck. I help individuals with ADHD, OCD, and other anxiety disorders. The label doesn't matter as much as you do.

Control and power are important. Mental illness, life stressors, change, relationship problems, are all things that make us feel like we are spiraling out of control. My clients are individuals that understand that regaining control and power in their own lives is the first essential step to achieving wellness. While my main focus is neurodivergency, I work with a wide variety of people who are ready to make the essential changes in their lives to be the happiest, healthiest version of themselves.

My favorite thing to do as a therapist is to see people heal the relationship they have with themselves so they can build a life that they truly love. The beliefs that we hold about ourselves are at the core of everything we think, feel, and do. When those beliefs are positive and supportive, we move through life generally feeling good and confident in our ability to accomplish our goals, build meaningful relationships, and feel fulfilled. However, when these beliefs are negative, we experience unpleasant feelings like depression and anxiety, and we engage in coping strategies that keep us from the life we truly desire to live.

Has life been recently more difficult than usual? Or have you noticed your mental health beginning to be affected by daily tasks or obligations? Have you been feeling as though you don’t have anyone to speak to or who will listen? These are common questions we ask ourselves but don’t necessarily always have the solution for them. Life can be overwhelming at times and asking for help can seem daunting; but you deserve for your voice to be heard and your thoughts or feelings to be validated. No one should have to navigate life’s events alone, having a person in your corner can provide relief and support.

Eating Disorders Therapists

What happens in therapy for eating disorders?

In therapy for eating disorders, patients typically describe their eating and exercise behaviors, their patterns of eating in relation to stress, their beliefs about their body, the ways their eating behavior affects their relationships, and their desire (or lack of it) to change. Such information helps the therapist understand the origins of the disorder and the role it plays in the patient’s life, important for guiding treatment. Attitudes and feelings about food and eating, body weight, and physical appearance are common topics of discussion throughout treatment.

What therapy types help with eating disorders?

Once any acute medical or psychiatric emergency is resolved, psychoactive medication is often prescribed, requiring the supervision of a psychiatrist. In addition, patients receive some form of nutritional counseling along with one or more forms of psychotherapy. For adolescents, family-based treatment is empirically validated and considered the first line of treatment; parents and their children meet weekly with a clinician as the adults are coached on how to nourish and psychologically support the young patient. Adults typically receive some form of individual psychotherapy, intended to resolve the cognitive and behavioral disturbances that underlie the disorder and to relieve the mood disturbances that accompany it. In addition, patients may also be helped by group therapy.

What is the goal of therapy for eating disorders?

The most immediate goal of treatment for eating disorders is to save the life of people who are on a path of starving themselves to death or engaging in eating patterns that are doing irreparable physical harm to their body. Once the acute medical danger is past, therapy is required to understand the nature of the disordered eating and/or exercise patterns, establish healthy eating behavior, and to tackle the many erroneous beliefs and distorted self-perceptions that underlie eating disorders and continue to pose a threat to health and life. Therapy also addresses the impaired mood that not only accompanies eating disorders but intensifies the danger to health and life.

What are the limitations of therapy for eating disorders?

Therapy can be very helpful for eating disorders—but that can happen only after people recognize they have a condition that must be treated. Especially with anorexia, the distortions in self-image that accompany the disorder can keep people from acknowledging they have a problem. Individuals may in fact see their eating disorder as a badge of self-control. Those with binge-eating disorder may feel too ashamed to seek help. Therapy cannot help those who do not avail themselves of it.

How long does therapy last for eating disorders?

Because of their complexity, recovery from eating disorders is usually a long-term process—measured in months and years— often marked by setbacks and relapse. Some form of help, such as individual or group therapy, may be advisable for much of that time. It is a general rule of thumb that the longer the illness has endured and the dysregulated eating behavior has taken root, the longer treatment is likely to be needed.
