Hello, my name is Alicia Owens and I've worked as a clinical counselor for 23 years. My focus areas are anxiety, depression, trauma, interpersonal effectiveness, life transitions, existential issues, grief, and loss. I use an eclectic approach including psychoanalysis and psychodynamic therapy, behavioral therapy, cognitive therapy, and humanistic therapy.

I've gained knowledge and skills working with clients who experienced anxiety and mood disorders, adjustment disorder, self-harm/suicide ideation, developmental disabilities, intimate and family relational conflict, parenting, and trauma-related diagnoses. Moreover, as a brainspotting practitioner, I utilize this trauma specific treatment by effectively helping to identify points in an individual's visual field to assist in retrieving unprocessed trauma in the subcortical brain.

I use my 14 years of experience in working with mental health and substance abuse to help clients learn to recognize ineffective coping skills and behaviors and then work together to develop new, more effective coping skills.
