My areas of expertise are working with teens and adults with anxiety, depression, substance use, grief and loss, life transitions, and family conflict.
Congratulations on taking the first step towards prioritizing your mental health and wellbeing. Finding the right provider is paramount to your therapeutic success. In any professional relationship, it is crucial to find "your person". Think about your hair stylist or barber, you wouldn't go to just anyone; the same idea applies for your mental health providers. I feel honored to be a part of the healing process that comes along with helping my clients reach their full potential. My ideal client is someone who is motivated to dive deep into self-discovery with my guidance.

If you or your family members are struggling with overwhelming emotions, uncontrollable behaviors, or confusion about how to make life better, therapy can be a tool to help accomplish what seems impossible. Whether you need help for yourself or your child, I offer compassionate, non-judgmental, confidential care to empower, heal, and move forward effectively. Many of the families I serve have children experiencing Baker Acts, severe emotional and behavioral dysregulation, and intense trauma histories.

Accepting New Patients - No matter how hard you try, it never seems like it's good enough. You're always exhausted and feel unappreciated by family, friends, co-workers. Your mind replays all the mistakes you've made instead of letting you sleep. Everything just seems so much harder than you expected. Do you ever wish things could be just a little bit easier? It's hard to reach out to a therapist. How can someone understand what you're going through? Your struggles are understandable reactions to life events! We won't judge your choices. We respect the ways you have survived... because you are surviving!

Everyone goes through difficulties in life that cause intense emotional pain. Perhaps you're feeling utterly torn apart through the hardships that life brings and want a safe space of healing. One of the most difficult tragedies is losing someone you love.

I love my profession! I have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for over 25 years and work with adults and adolescents, inspiring hope while developing critical coping tools. I provide individual therapy and take a strength based approach as I believe everyone can grow and change. I specialize in treatment for depression, anxiety, major life changes, self-esteem building, trauma and grief. I am very knowledgeable about mental health diagnosis' however I concentrate less on the actual diagnosis because a mental illness does not define who you are. I am here to help guide you to a happy and healthy place in your life

I am here for you and with you. You are many things to many people in your life. You are a partner, parent, grandparent, friend, professional, neighbor, but who are you to yourself? How are you taking care of you? Are you taking time for yourself, without guilt, to work towards your personal, emotional, physical, psychological, and professional goals? As we navigate our experiences and choices in life, we often carry complex feelings and unresolved baggage. These feelings become unbearable at times. Fear, doubt, insecurities, and worry can take a hold of us, resulting in us neglecting ourselves and repeating the same patterns

Seeking help and allowing someone into our innermost thoughts, feelings, failures, hopes, and dreams can be one the most frightening endeavors we embark on. Having an environment where you feel heard, respected, and validated, that is affirming, and nonjudgmental is essential. As your therapist, my primary goal is that you understand your worth, know your value, and appreciate the love you have to offer to yourself and others.

One of the major problems one can have is expecting perfection. What follows is loss of confidence, loss of focus, and later just giving up. I work with kids, teens and adults whom have the same issues of freezing up, worrying about what others think and having so much pressure they no longer enjoy their sport. It's because you lose focus and worry to much about making a mistake or embarrassing oneself or letting others down. If you have been feeling like your performance and motivation has declined then your mental game is likely in need of change.

I help people whose unresolved trauma has turned into anxiety, depression, fear of living, and avoidance, just to name a few. These symptoms take over at the worst possible moments, therefore, finding it debilitating and are in need of help to decrease these symptoms, and find fulfillment in their lives. I treat couples in marriage counseling who might have grown apart, have infidelity/online love romances, or communication problems. I ask you to question, "What if life with your partner could be as exciting as it was when you first got together?” If you want to find out, give me a call.

Finding a good therapist is no easy task, especially online where your options seem as endless as your Netflix suggestions. The search can be daunting and exhausting - particularly when you're trying to just find someone who will understand and respect you. Being vulnerable with a stranger is scary and I applaud you for taking the first step in finding someone who can help you feel more "you". Therapy is not cookie-cutter or black and white. It can take time to find the right match, and I truly hope that I can be that for you!

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
