I am a licensed therapist whose primary focus is helping individuals and families work through trauma, major life transitions and unfulfilling relationship dynamics. I especially have a passion for working with teens experiencing social anxiety, preparing for graduation, and navigating the growing pressures with social media. I also take interest in addressing issues specific to women such as postpartum depression, and counseling young adults healing from complex trauma, establishing healthy relationships, and planning for the next stages of life; whatever that may be.

The most common need I hear from clients is that they have done a lot of talk therapy in the past and they are stuck. I get it. That's the client I'm excited to work with. My ideal client is one who wants to do the work because I show up for my half of the therapeutic relationship. I bring my varied 24 years of experience to every session. My specialties are complex trauma and addiction, and this also encompasses obsessive overthinking, chronic low self-confidence, generalized anxiety, relationship issues, etc. Therapy is a team effort to make lasting changes outside of the therapy environment.

Dr. Westheimer works with individuals of various ages, but has specialized training in the treatment of children and adolescents. Her graduate studies also included a concentration in neuropsychology. Dr. Westheimer's pre-doctoral internship was completed at The Children's Home in Tampa, Florida with an emphasis on adoption preservation, childhood neglect, trauma, and evaluation. She also completed a rotation providing immediate crisis intervention, assessment and referral, and short-term counseling. Her post-doctoral residency was completed at a local forensic private practice where she remained for three years.
