I will teach you about anxiety, depression, trauma, and how your self-protective strategies keep you safe.
As a client-centered therapist, I believe in the human capacity to "self-actualize." In psychology, self-actualization is achieved when you're able to reach your full potential. I have learned that we are more alike than different in this work. Most people want to feel seen, heard, loved, valued, protected, and connected. Where one is missing, there is usually an amplification in anxiety. I am in the empathy business. I use connection and evidence-based treatments, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), to help clients clarify their "why" and navigate a path to deeper fulfillment—professionally and personally.

I specialize in working with postpartum depression and anxiety, and various maternal mental health concerns.
Motherhood is hard - it's okay to admit that! It's also okay for mothers to reach out for support along the way. You don't have to figure it out alone.

Are you ready for a change? Art therapy may be right for you. It is not always easy to express our feelings with words alone. There are many challenges life throws at us, but sometimes we can work through them best by doing what comes naturally - creating. In my experience everyone is a born creator. I can help you use art and artistic expression to confront your deepest fears and begin the process of healing. You may be stronger than you think.

Life happens in unexpected ways. Whether adjusting to a sudden life change or a known life transition, you may be feeling emotionally overwhelmed and exhausted. The time period of transitioning to adulthood is stressful enough and dealing with anxiety, hopeless feelings, or just uncertainty on how to move forward can make it unbearable. Many adults have found help by reaching out and working with a therapist. There is an opportunity to learn and grow from your experience. Maya Angelou says, “You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.”

I work with adults through depression, stress, anxiety, trauma and grief and with couples towards cohesion, better communication, recovery from conflict, and navigating cultural differences.
Day to day life can be really hard! We're all doing the best we know how, but certain times it feels like something might be missing. We all need support in different areas to navigate our personal struggles from depression, anxiety, stress management, behavioral issues, or family communication challenges. I believe in empowering you to identify what your hopeful future and goals look like and helping you to get there in a healthy way. By focusing on these goals, your strengths, and family history, I'll support you towards growth, healing, and healthy relationships.

I am a LPC in GA who is passionate about being a therapist and actually feels called to it. I believe that we all deserve to live a meaningful and fulfilled life, where we feel Accepted, Heard, Seen, Cared For, and Valued. I have a genuine interest and curiosity about people, about how we became the people that we are, who and what influenced are decisions, what we believe, and how they contribute to the ways we think, feel and act. I am zealous about helping people know and appreciate who they are, and not just what people and experiences have conditioned them to believe they should be.

I work with individuals ages 14+ experiencing a myriad of clinical concerns including depression, anxiety, life transitions, and grief. Additionally, I have a passion for working with individuals overcoming complex trauma as well as sexual abuse. Some of my other clinical experiences include working with substance use, HIV/AIDS, eating disorders, and suicidal ideation. Many of my clients are seeking out culturally sensitive care where their identities are given the space to be seen and heard. During our time together we will work on building awareness of thought patterns, beliefs, and narratives that no longer serve you.

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
