Jaketa Groves is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Georgia who has been practicing since 2023. She earned her Bachelor's in Psychology with a minor in African American Studies from the University of Memphis, followed by a Master's degree in Professional Counseling from Grand Canyon University. Over the last eight years, Jaketa has dedicated her expertise to community-based mental health, with a particular focus on telehealth therapy for the past four years. Throughout her professional journey, she has worked with diverse populations, serving individuals from various races and ethnicities.

I have over 25 years working in the field of psychology. I believe that the key to most emotional and psychological problems lies in relationships, those in the past and in the present. I believe conscious and unconscious behavior patterns can cause difficulties in life, and these behavior problems can be changed or modified. My approach is eclectic , and I use various modalities within a psychodynamic framework. I am also trained as a trauma specialist and EMDR therapist. I believe trauma can keep people stuck in behaviors and emotional dysfunction and EMDR is a highly effective way of reprocessing "stuck" trauma.

My ideal client is anyone who wants help, is willing to be open and honest, and is willing to put in some work to explore how they can live their best life. They may know exactly what they want to accomplish, or they may not. If they don't, together we can work to clear the fog and reveal the path to the life they want to live. They may be battling depression, anxiety, ADHD, past trauma, or anything in between. They may need a safe place to process past events, reveal and express their feelings, practice coping skills, or learn new systems to help them live their best life.

Difficult situations can be worked through with proper care and support. Being an open-minded and empathetic therapist creates an environment of trust and partnership with clients to tackle any challenge that may arise. Honest expression within a session is key to making progress and feeling better; I provide a supportive and open-space where there is no judgement. Empowerment gives you the confidence to make decisions that positively affect your life. I provide a safe place to share, vent, cry, adjust, brainstorm, plan, and heal. My ultimate goal is to help each client achieve a sense of well-being and life satisfaction.

Clients who crave an honest space to be their genuine selves with a therapist who will hold them accountable typically enjoy working with me! Therapy is a self-care activity, but that does not mean it will always be easy, nor does it mean that I will tell you exactly what you want to hear. I enjoy helping children, teens, and adults face their current challenges and find a path to wellness that allows them to flourish. I have experience working with a variety of clients of all ages. I obtained my Master of Science Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University. Currently I provide mental health counseling in person in Roswell and I also offer telemental health counseling on line to residents of Georgia. I have experience working with tweens, adolescents, adults, older adults, and couples.
