It is common to see therapy as a journey to discover the Self. We have familiar maps, or patterns, which can lead to unhappiness or self-sabotaging behavior. You may find yourself stranded in all-too-familiar territory with little idea of how to move on. Like many journeys, it can be an exciting adventure but can also be full of unknowns. I see my role as your guide, to blaze new “routes” together that have worked well for others. As Helen Keller once said: “What I am looking for is not out there, it is in me.” I truly believe the exquisite joy you find by falling in love with yourself is a journey you don’t want to miss!

Are you haunted by the past? Do upsetting memories interfere with your present-day experiences? Maybe you instinctively know that you over-react to situations that trigger intense feelings from your past. You just want to forget about it and move on. However, your emotional over-reactivity has been impacting your relationships, your job, and your overall sense of well-being. Perhaps you have avoided therapy because you don't think talking about it will help. If this is your story, then I can help. The model of therapy I use does not require you to talk about your upsetting memory. You get to decide what to share if anything at all.

Therapy can be a powerful way to make changes in your life. Having a therapist that you can rely on, should offer consistent support for those changes. My approach is compassionate and motivational to help you identify ways to positively meet your needs by processing emotional wounds, shifting your thoughts and behaviors, and unblocking your own answers to your growth. I often include a somatic approach to connect sensations in the body to the mind for healing. I see myself as a guide to support your readiness to explore areas of resiliency.

A mental health diagnosis does not define who you are or have the final say in the quality of your life. I believe that education is power and the more a person understands their condition the better they can manage life and relationships. I also believe that being allowed to share your journey is an honor. Therapy can be freeing as it inspires personal growth and hopeful outcomes.

Thank you for showing up for yourself today! We can often benefit from processing some of life's challenges and allowing others to help carry the weight of our lived experiences. I believe that humans are resilient by nature, and adversity sometimes offers the opportunity to build upon existing strength. With openness, courage, and support, you can approach difficult emotions and adapt to uncertainty. If you have struggled with eating disorders, disordered eating, body image concerns, anxiety, depression, life stressors, and/or trauma, I can help you find healing. I am a strong advocate for Health At Every Size.
