Grief and loss are naturally occurring themes throughout our lives. As we live and love, we will lose and grieve. Grief happens not only with the death of a loved-one but also when passing through other life stages like break-ups and divorces, school or job changes, retirements, empty nesting, life-changing illnesses, and preparing for our own deaths. Ignored grief can re-emerge as depression, anxiety, anger, guilt, and interpersonal difficulties. I am dedicated to assisting people through these times and I enjoy working with individual adults of all ages, at all stages.

My style is open and relational. I like to smile and use humor, but I will tell it like it is with compassion as well. I enjoy helping people overcome imposter syndrome, navigate life changes, and figure out the best next step forward. I have experience with helping people of color navigate stressful work situations, including dealing with microaggressions, and figuring out how to survive or exit a toxic work environment. I help my clients regain their confidence to be the best version of themselves and show up 100% in all areas of their lives.

Taking the first step towards therapy is hard, and taking that first step when your concerns are sex-related can feel even harder. Most of us are taught from a young age that sex is a shameful topic that is not to be discussed openly— that any concerns, difficulties, or dissatisfaction you may experience related to sex, sexuality, or gender are to be ashamed of. I’m here to tell you that that is not true! Issues and concerns with sex and sexuality are very common, and it is healthy to talk to a therapist about them.

There could be countless reasons that you are here. Perhaps you have trouble managing your day-to-day stress and don't want to get out of bed because of burnout. Maybe you and your spouse or children are facing disagreements you just can’t seem to solve that seem too much to handle. Or maybe you seem like a different person since being pregnant, and you're concerned that you will never be your old self again. No matter the case, the real reason you're here is to get well. I am committed to helping you do just that.

When did things get so hard? And honestly, just saying things are hard makes me feel guilty because I know others have it harder, so I shouldn’t complain. I’ve said things I regret to the people I love - why?! How do I stop? Sometimes I feel like I hate everyone, other times I worry about the state of the world and if we will all be OK. Me and my significant other are totally out of sync; I’m worried about our relationship. I know I should talk to someone, or that we should, but I just don’t know if I even have the energy. If any of this sounds even the tiniest bit like you, or your relationship, I’m glad you found my page.

Life hasn't gone the way you wanted it to. You long for a better past. Instead of moving on, like others seem to be able to, you spiral into the same dark patterns. Over and over again. You don't want it to be this way, but you don't know what else to do. The days are tiresome, and some mornings you don't even want to get out of bed.

"I'm okay. Everything's alright". You tell yourself this repetitively while withholding tears and smiling for everyone else. You secretly struggle to believe what God says about you. Some days you feel so alone. You battle to feel loved and good enough to be the person God created you to be. Anxiety, depression, fear, grief, loss, shame and trauma have become emotional strongholds. Life seems to keep coming and you feel depleted. You ultimately want to live in freedom in your mind, no longer enslaved by the pain of the past, comparison, and even fear that your future will be failure. You desire to sense hope and fulfillment again.

I know personally how hard it can be to experience sexual/physical/emotional trauma/addiction/depression/grief/financial/relational ruin/overwhelming anxiety. Hoping to get through a day with the jaw clenching/palm sweating/handshakes/thoughts racing/heart pounding/doubting every idea/thought/emotion, asking will this be forever? Sometimes, you experience paralyzing nightmares or dreams that you are moving in slow motion and feel so alone and isolated when in a crowded room. Moreover, the constant dread (or the invisible weighted depression blanket). I get it; I've lived it and worked with many others who have.

Life can be full of great experiences and feelings, but it can also be full of difficult emotions, hard relationships, and traumatic experiences, which can often negatively impact your self-esteem and your experience in life. My goal is to help people work through these experiences so they can find enjoyment in their life, grow in their relationships, and increase their self-esteem. The hard things in life don't have to hold you back.
