I utilize known and effective approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), mindfulness-based, independent work, and more.
Mental health care is not a one-size-fits-all experience. I work with individuals who have diverse backgrounds and struggle with various traumatic events, grief, and mood related difficulties such as anxiety, depression, and more. During our initial session we will dive as deep as you would like and work together to discuss various resources, and create a plan to address your specific needs. During our work together, I'll hope to challenge you, empower you to challenge yourself, all while going at your pace.

Healing in therapy can come about in different ways; from a shift in perspective, from encouragement to engage in new behaviors and from learning to sit with and process our discomfort with mindfulness and compassion rather than reacting to it in ways that cause more pain and struggle.
Life can be painful and in our efforts to cope, it's easy to get caught in self defeating patterns of thought, emotion and behavior. Sometimes, our challenges will resolve on their own and other times we need to address them more directly. It's hard to reach out, to admit we don't have it all together, but seeking therapy is a wise choice that takes incredible courage. I commend you for taking this step and promise to do my best to offer you a safe space to share your unique story, to heal and to grow.

When it comes to my practice in therapy, I am values and emotions-based, I utilize mindfulness and can help you become intentional in your life.
I understand what it is like to feel as though your thoughts and behaviors are being solely ruled by your emotions. This is exhausting to live day after day. This way of living leads to being overwhelmed, dissatisfied, unhappy, stuck, or anxious. You want to gain more happiness and satisfaction within your life, but it feels daunting, you don't know where to begin or perhaps you feel resistance within yourself to even start. You need someone to listen and challenge you with more effective ways of utilizing your whole mind, body, and spirit.

I am influenced by Person Centered and intrigued by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, Play Therapy, Acceptant and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
Hello! I am looking to help teens and adults explore those difficult moments they face daily. We have all faced challenges and need someone to listen or hear us out. We aim to collaborate with you, uncover the possibilities, and reach a healthier place. As we journey through your challenges, we will find who you are and how to become a better version of yourself. This will be done through a nonjudgemental, compassionate space where you will be free to be who you are and talk about what you have been through. You will become aware that you are not alone, and you are seen.

I also incorporate mindfulness, interpersonal neurobiology, and family systems theories in working with adults, children, and families through a strength-based lens.
As a play therapist, my goal is to provide a safe and therapeutic environment for children and adolescents to express themselves and heal using their primary language: Play. Although appropriate for adults, traditional talk therapy can prove difficult for children and adolescents. By utilizing play therapy, I'm able to build a strong and safe therapeutic relationship, a cornerstone to change and healing. In addition, I provide supervision for licensed counselors seeking the Registered Play Therapist credential. Call or email today for current availability!

With anxiety and depression, I work to reframe thinking, utilize mindfulness, and find the best ways to stop the destructive cycles that come with both.
I am glad you're taking the step to find a therapist. I know how difficult it can be to even work up the courage, but it is a worthwhile journey to take. If you feel like what you see in my profile fits you well, I encourage you to reach out!

I enjoy meeting clients right where they are and partnering with them to consider and predict the natural consequences which come to bear based on choices. My approach to therapy integrates mindfulness with solution-focused and reality-based approaches. I am EMDR trained as well and we can incorporate this as needed. Often we are driven into counseling either by an internal or external demand which no longer allows us to exist as we are. Counseling is about making a choice to manage life differently, or not--and not making a choice, is nevertheless still a choice.

Informed by attachment theory and interpersonal neurobiology, I use mindfulness and scientifically validated modalities to help people break free from outdated, destructive patterns and practice beneficial new ways of being.
Are you stuck, repeating the same patterns in relationships that start out full of hope and desire, but end up in distance and disappointment? Do fears keep surfacing that lead you to react in ways that sabotage your goals/push others away? You may worry about rejection and loss, or find yourself lonely and disillusioned, wondering what's "wrong" that undermines your happiness. Rest assured, you're not alone! I've been there, too. If you are suffering in relationships, feeling heartbroken, or yearning from unmet needs, I can empower you to understand and change the underlying dynamics to promote intimacy and connection.

Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Therapists

How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.

When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behavior through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviors and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.

Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioral habits.
