Welcome, we are now accepting new clients! Our practice currently includes Dr. Paul Pohto and Dr. Phil Schulte, licensed clinical psychologists in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Together, we offer counseling and psychological testing services for adults facing a wide variety of life stressors or psychological concerns. Our practice is also offering assessment services including neurodevelopmental evaluations for children, and general psychological testing services across the life-span. We are able to offer testing appointments on weekends and evenings.

I have served children in the educational setting in the U.S. and the Middle East for over 20 years, through teaching, coaching, and counseling. I was born and raised in the Shenandoah Valley, Virginia where I live with husband and son.

I travel with you, acting as a Transition Coach/ Guide as you explore your inner worlds clarifying your purpose, and shaping to your life's goals. I am also a spiritual coach providing guidance and support for those who are graduating from this life and who need help with this transition. Hello! I'm Kate Bailey, a Resident in Counseling with Wildly Rooted Counseling in Harrisonburg, Virginia. I earned my Masters and Educational Specialist degrees in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at James Madison University. I aim to create a safe space where clients feel deeply valued, understood, and empowered. I believe that the therapeutic relationship can be beneficial to anyone, and can help inspire a deeper connection with yourself and others.

We provide a range of psychological evaluations in Harrisonburg–for children, teens, and adults. Assessments for dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia (learning disabilities in reading, writing, and math). We also provide evaluations for ADHD and autism. And, because many of our clients also struggle with anxiety, depression, or similar, we can help sort out how these impact day-to-day functioning.

Now offering equine therapy add-on services! I am a licensed professional counselor in Harrisonburg, VA with specialized training for trauma counseling and equine therapy. I work with all ages, but particularly enjoy working with teens/young adults, as I feel they need the most support in learning about relationships, identity, and building a healthy sense of self as they move into adulthood. At any age, I enjoy taking that journey alongside my clients as they build awareness of their inner world impacts the relationships around them, so that they can connect back to the parts of self from which they may have disconnected.

In my work I make deep connections with people as we meet and talk honestly. Each person who meets with me seeks to find meaning and purpose in life. Part of this process is helping the unconscious and the conscious talk to each other because many of our inner conflicts, i.e. fights with ourselves, come from a lack of communication between the conscious and unconscious. A part of the work is exploring what lies in shadow. This is not just repressed, ugly stuff. For many folks untapped gifts and potential lie in the unknown parts of themselves.

I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor who specializes in behavioral, identity and emotional challenges. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from James Madison University and my Master's degree in Mental Health from Eastern Mennonite University. I have experience working with youth and families who are involved with foster care and adoption, youth who had physical, sexual and abusive trauma histories as well as children with attachment issues. I also have experience working with people is all ages who have anxiety and depression.

I have been married for over 45 years and have 3 adult children. Two of the children are biologically ours and the third is adopted. They have blessed Ronda, my wife, and I with 9 grandchildren. I heard the call to care for people as a clinical psychologist when I took a gap year after high school. My personal and professional value system uses Love as the measure of my behaviors and motivations. One of my favorite movies is “What About Bob”. This movie makes the point that therapists and clients are both human, with their own foibles. My general approach is “ I am just one beggar showing another beggar where to find food."

My specialties include working with those who have suffered from abuse, neglect, sexual assault, or incest. Familial conflict, Borderline Personality Disorder, and trauma are areas that I have advanced training in as well. I hold a certification in DBT and have worked with people age 4-70. I am currently supervised and trained by Dr. Laura Copley, the only Ph.D. Certified Trauma Specialist in the Shenandoah Valley. Therapy dog, Luca, is a bonus (see gallery pictures).

Each of us is writing a story with our lives, and like any story we are incomplete without knowing our past and having an idea for our future. I believe counseling is a powerful support that can allow us to overcome hurdles, meet new goals, and live the life we want to live. I enjoy working with people who extend compassionate curiosity to themselves to better understand their life in every aspect.

As a counselor, I take an Interpersonal Process approach to therapy, wherein the client/counselor relationship can serve as a springboard for personal transformation in daily life. Together we will consider your unique journey including relationships, identity, and culture to build a layered picture of who you are as an individual, and within the world around you. When relevant, we will consider significant traumatic experiences you may have gone through, as well as childhood and adult attachment patterns and how those play out in your relationships today.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in adolescents, young adult, and adults. I have been in the mental health profession for 16 years, including 11 of those years as a school counselor. I work with clients with a wide variety of issues, including anxiety, depression, life transitions, and adolescent changes and behaviors.

My goal is to empower my clients to enjoy healthy relationships with others and themselves. I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. I have previously worked with the foster care system, social services, and the school system. I am also trained in EMDR which focuses on addressing trauma.
