As a body image therapist, my mission is to empower individuals to develop a healthy, compassionate relationship with their bodies. I am deeply committed to helping clients break free from the societal pressures and unrealistic beauty standards that often lead to negative body image, disordered eating, and self-doubt. I am passionate about guiding individuals on their journey toward self-love, where they can embrace their bodies as they are, and live in alignment with their authentic selves. This work is deeply personal to me, and I am honored to witness the growth and transformation of my clients.

Life today is difficult with all the demands placed on us by our family, work and our own need to achieve. Add to this the emotional stress of family conflict, divorce, defiant children, an illness or death in the family, and you begin to understand why more and more people are seeking the help of mental health professionals.

My goal is to help people lead happier more content lives. Counseling is just like life in that you get out of it what you put into it. Counseling requires courage. In going through the difficult parts though, you will come out stronger and more capable of living the life you desire. I can’t “fix” you (you’re not broken even if it feels that way). What I’ll do is work along with you to get through those tough things that are going on inside or around you.

My goal is to create a safe space for clients to be able to open up about themselves and their needs. I’m a firm believer that therapy is a team effort. It can only be done if both counselor and client come together to accomplish goals together. I especially like helping clients to reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression, and trauma. I have experience helping teens and young people to work towards goals to better their life.

Do you find yourself feeling forced to walk the path societal standards dictate for us? Career development, dating and marriage, kids–along the path we follow no matter how we feel. But do we have to? If you were to veer off society's path, what would it look like? More importantly, would you feel differently? I enjoy helping my clients explore how they can lead a more fulfilling life by their own standards–not by the path society has laid out for us.

I believe that every person has the right, responsibility, and ability to live their life in a healthy and fulfilling way. Too often we put our own mental health needs to the side in order to "make it through" whatever hardship is being faced. Whether it is familial issues, anxiety, depression, identity, or life transitions, people face many challenges to their mental health. If you are ready to talk to someone in a non judgmental or pressured environment, who will work with you to create goals and positive change, please consider reaching out to me!

My philosophy when working with children and teens is that they need to feel heard, valued, and supported. I believe that they need to understand that their thoughts and feelings matter. I have spent 15+ years working with children, teens, and their caregivers in schools, the community, and in their homes. I am a certified school social worker and have significant experience working with behaviors, navigating the IEP process, and providing parenting support. I have a special interest in working with children and teens who are neurodivergent or have a developmental disability.

I offer help by fostering a therapeutic relationship that promotes vulnerability and trust between the client and myself. I believe the most important aspect of therapy is to cultivate a nonjudgmental environment in which both parties can feel safe to be completely honest to solve the issue at hand. I offer experience in CBT, ACT, and mindfulness.

I completely agree with Steven Aitchison's quote that emotional pain is not something that should be hidden away and never spoken about. There is truth in your pain there is growth in your pain, but only if it's first brought out into the open. The first step is recognizing that there is a concern and asking for assistance. Whether you are an adult survivor of childhood sexual trauma or your child has disclosed sexual trauma, you can find healing. Maybe you are a parent who needs a safe place to discuss your experiences with pregnancy, loss, medical emergencies, etc. Or you and your partner need to process ongoing difficulties.

The Journey Begins Here... I have found, for my patients and myself, that life is a series of adjustments. Some adjustments are small, smooth and easy, and we may even feel grateful for the new direction on our path. Some of these adjustments are overwhelming. They knock us to our knees, and we feel we may never get up again. Most are somewhere in between.... Whatever challenges bring you to seek counsel, rest assured there is help to adjust and navigate the road ahead.

Welcome! I am a licensed professional counselor (LCPC), certified in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). I believe that the therapist-client relationship is the foundation of successful treatment. Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
