Sometimes, we feel stuck in life and don't know what we can do to move forward. I often work with, and welcome, individuals who struggled to find benefit in previous attempts at therapy. I find great value in working with folks struggling to maintain their identity while juggling children and aging parents. Individuals managing a beloved pets illness or loss are also a welcomed part of my practice. I enjoy working with individuals who seek greater understanding of how their moods and behaviors developed, and why their current coping strategies may no longer feel useful.

Feeling lost, stuck, or nothing at all? Wondering how you got to this point or how you can get past it? Let's start with this assumption: All people -at any point in time- are doing the best that they can with the resources available to them. Starting in infancy we develop ways to express our feelings and meet our needs, which can have a profound impact on how we interact with people and go through the world. Often skills that we developed at these early stages in our lives can become unhelpful as we transition to new stages. In therapy we can explore the question: “How is the past playing out in the present?” in a safe space.

Jung said “We don’t get wounded alone and we don’t heal alone.” Meaning everything that is hurt within a relationship must be healed within one. As a therapist, I believe in deep relational work, whether that is in an individual setting or with a parent-child dyad/triad. I am not about “quick fixes” and believe that the best results come with time and curiosity.

Life can be tough sometimes and we can all benefit from having an unbiased, non-judgemental, validating (yet honest), supportive person. I am here to help you work through your thoughts and emotions, expand self-awareness, decrease bothersome symptoms and increase an overall sense of happiness and wellbeing. My warm and casual approach often helps clients feel comfortable and at ease, to allow themselves to be honest and vulnerable, to discuss the sometimes difficult topics, the day to day stressors, or anything in between. From the initial session until the last, I will meet you where you are at.

The beautiful anomaly of therapy is it is something that everyone can use yet what one needs and finds beneficial is different for everyone. As a provider, I utilize a person-centered approach because I believe counseling should be individualized. The working relationship between client and therapist is something that can be transformative both inside and outside of the office.

I envision my ideal client as someone grappling with the complexities of military-related trauma, anxiety, and depression. They may struggle with feelings of being stuck, often facing challenges in building trust and dealing with negative thought patterns. Their goals typically include finding healing from painful memories, enhancing emotional well-being, and rebuilding relationships. They seek a compassionate therapist to guide them, someone who understands their unique experiences and provides the support needed to navigate their challenges and ultimately achieve a sense of empowerment and growth in their lives.

Many of the individuals I work with report feeling that they're going through life "ticking the boxes", but not really fulfilled. They find themselves struggling with sadness, anger, anxiety, people pleasing, etc. Many times these feelings are connected to negative limiting beliefs about the way we view ourselves and the world. These negative limiting beliefs often stem from difficult experiences in our childhood. We all have childhood wounds that live in within us and these wounds can subconsciously run our lives. I help my clients release themselves from these wounds and step into their most authentic self.

I specialize in assisting adults and the first responder community work through a wide range of topics.

We're all doing the best we can with what we have to work with. However, life is always changing, and the tools we were given in the past, may not be working for us in the present. Counseling can act as a software update for your mind, clearing out old ideas, unprocessed emotion, and beliefs, that are holding you back from reaching your goals. I use EMDR therapy and other evidence-based modalities in my work. If you want to live your life more than think about it, and if you want your past to stop showing up uninvited in the present; then you may benefit from this unique, innovative, and holistic form of therapy.
