Ms. Rivela,LCSW has been in the social work profession for over 25 years with emphasis in behavioral health, technology in behavioral health care, and social work research and education. She has worked as both a direct practice provider and a behavioral health administrator including psychiatric social worker, outpatient clinic director, administrator for state-wide and county behavioral health programs, as well as adjunct faculty for Masters of Social Work students. She is a graduate of Adelphi University with both a Bachelors of Arts in Social Science and a Master of Social Work as well as an Associate in Applied Science in Music.

I enjoy working with individuals throughout the lifespan, from ages 5 to 105. My experience as a school psychologist has given me an understanding of the challenges of both being and parenting a child with special needs, as well as navigating life as an adult with a disability or chronic health condition. I also have experience in working with clients suffering from depression, grief/loss, anxiety, trauma, panic attacks, and phobias. I have a special interest in working with clients who are neurodivergent and those who identify as LGBTQIA.

Art making in sessions is used as a vessel, and not always necessary during sessions. When words fail us, we can explore art together to see what comes up for you. I am now offering yoga and art therapy sessions to offer a full embodied experience, opening with yoga asana, meditation, art creation and finally process your experience together.
