We also incorporate creative techniques in therapy such as acupuncture, reiki, EMDR, meditation, mindfulness, music, art, and massage in sessions.
Hi, my name is Phadia. I believe in therapy because I have been in therapy myself. Are you wondering if counseling is really for you? I may understand - because I have dealt with my own challenges and questioned if therapy could help. I now believe anyone can get through his or her trauma with the right support. I work with a team of amazing therapists. We like to say – we make dreams come true! That’s because we know when you’re able to get past this hurdle, you will be able to focus on all the things you’ve always dreamt about.

As a licensed art therapist, I understand that anxiety lives in the body.
I support people struggling with anxiety, perfectionism, body image, and self-advocacy with warmth and compassion. Imagine for a moment that you are able to let go of your anxiety, release the urge to make things perfect or altogether be perfect. What space could you create for yourself to explore and grow? What space could you create to make something that feels true and authentic? People often come to me when they are ready to make this step.

My approach to therapy is a combination of culture, art and talk therapies.
As human beings, we sometimes question our choices or experience self-doubt and over thinking. We all struggle with a variety of issues that we may need to process and work through. Having someone in your corner for guidance and support can make all of the difference. My name is Cheyenne and I am an aspiring Creative Arts Therapist. I completed my undergraduate studies at Queens College where I majored in psychology and minored in studio art. I completed my graduate studies at Hofstra University, where I studied Creative Arts Therapy.

Waitlist for new clients
Art therapy is about using images as a stepping stone to exploration and discovery, whether through talking only, or with a variety of forms of self expression.
At present, April 2021, I am not taking new cases. I will adjust this profile when I have openings. I’m not receiving calls from this website. Together will find ways to process and work through such issues to enable you to engage fully with your life and enhance your personal development. I have a holistic approach and open mind and cultivate a comfortable, non-judgmental and safe space for many kinds of self-expression, whether verbal or using creative arts.

Art Therapy

How does art therapy work?

The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.

Does art therapy help with trauma?

Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.

How long does art therapy last?

The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.

What are the limitations of art therapy?

Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
