Many children and adults are immersed in struggling to cope with post covid reactions. The isolation of lockdown and COVID itself has caused lingering symptoms of depression, anxiety, fatigue and ambivalence about re-engaging with others and with activities that are life affirming. To compound matters we are witnessing the slaughter of innocent human beings at the mercy of a mass murderer. Don't delay in seeking help if you are struggling to make sense of your life. Bring your partner, family or your friend group for a session. You and those you bring might be surprised by the therapeutic benefit of even one meeting.

“Close relationships, more than money or fame, are what keep people happy throughout their lives”. This is according to the Harvard Study of Adult Development, the longest study ever done on adult life. When insecurity, anxiety, and disappointment leave us feeling small, disconnected, and alone, our capacity for joy drops and our physical and mental health declines. My clients move to a position of empowerment where unhelpful reactive patterns are addressed and intentionality and security are cultivated. I am passionate in helping my clients live the authentic, abundant, and successful lives they deserve.

I am Licensed Clinical Social Worker working with a range of age groups and therapeutic needs. I chose social work because of its holistic approach considering the whole person: body, mind, and environmental systems lived when providing psychotherapy. Therapy with me is collaborative and non-judgmental using EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Psychodynamic relational work (talk therapy) which support development of secure attachment behaviors, healing and desensitization of past traumas/PTSD, and development of a deeper connection to internal self-worth. All providing a foundation for lasting change.

At the core, we all seek connection—to feel seen, heard, and understood. My therapeutic approach is deeply relational, where the bond between therapist and client is essential to healing. I prioritize the human experience over diagnosing, focusing on how culture, societal pressures, and the complexities of life shape our mental well-being. While I bring clinical expertise to our sessions, including a range of therapeutic modalities, I believe true progress happens when we lean into the relationship and trust built in therapy.

Art therapy provides a unique opportunity to give visual form to thoughts, emotions, and experiences that can feel difficult to express through words alone. Together, we can explore your goals, using both visual art and talk therapy to foster insight, build coping strategies, and manage stress. As a non-binary therapist, I value the importance of shared experiences in building a trusting therapeutic relationship, offering a space where we can connect on a deeper level and work toward growth through self-expression, self-awareness, and empowerment.

As a true believer in human strength, many of us spend our lives searching for what is already there. A fuller and meaningful life is lived when we have discovered our inner strength. I am trained to help you find your inner strength so you can live a healthier and more meaningful life. My practice is rooted on a psychodynamic approach--assisting the client in gaining a perspective of pure insight in order to recognize the character, traits, actions, responses, and behaviors that will be transformed.

I have over 25 years experience working with individuals and couples on a wide variety of life challenges and productively moving forward in their lives. My approach is supportive and empathic in helping clients recognize their own needs and strengths, and feel more optimistic about their future. I work to help people develop greater trust in themselves and others, and in doing so achieve greater self-confidence and healthy self-assertion. Over the years I have seen considerable benefit in focusing on what is felt within the therapeutic relationship as a valuable source of understanding and discovering possibilities for change.

As a therapist, I work collaboratively with my clients to identify and achieve their goals. I believe that within each of us lives an innate drive towards wholeness and transformation. Some people call this drive an "inner healer". Through cultivating greater self-awareness and acceptance of the patterns and behaviors we want to change, I believe we can make way for this natural process of transformation to emerge to live life more fully and authentically.

When you are physically ill you turn to your doctor, hoping they can help you feel better. Problems like depression, anxiety, impulsivity, uncontrollable anger, or low self-confidence can be as painful, if not more so, than physical illness; they can also create serious relationship and work difficulties. I have over 25 years of experience and I have helped many adults, adolescents, and couples who had received limited or no benefit from previous therapists, other doctors, or medications. I work well with people who are skeptical of, or intimidated by, talk therapy.

I’m so glad you’re here- life is hard. A million and one things can contribute to feeling stuck in our day to day, distant from the things and people that spark joy, or always on edge waiting for the other shoe to drop. I have over 7 years of experience working with individuals with a wide range of challenges from all walks of life, but we will particularly work well if you are curious not just about HOW you feel, but WHY you feel that way. I am here to, at your pace, help you unload all the tough things like trauma, difficult relationships, or life events and alleviate the sadness, stuckness, or anxiety that lingers as a result.

Talking is not always the best approach to therapy-especially if you are someone who struggles with opening up or finding words for your feelings. Working creatively allows you to move past blocks and defenses to release old patterns and create the life you want to be living. Whether you have a specific issue, feel stuck or overwhelmed, or are curious to explore yourself more, a creative approach may be key in supporting you in finding relief and accessing a greater source of healing within you.

Suicidal Ideation Therapists

How does therapy for suicidal ideation work?

Stress, depression, anxiety, or upsetting circumstances can give rise to suicidal thinking. Therapy can address the events at the core of an individual’s suffering. Understanding why a person may be suicidal can help the therapist and the patient discover alternative methods of coping. A person with suicidal ideation may be mired in catastrophic thinking, and treatment like cognitive behavioral therapy is a good choice for breaking such patterns. In addition, treatment such as acceptance and commitment therapy can help a person manage their distress through better emotion regulation.

Which therapies are best for suicidal ideation?

Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavior, psychodynamic, acceptance and commitment therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior therapies are two widely used therapies that can help individuals with painful thoughts and past traumas. These therapies help an individual tolerate distress, regulate emotions, and not act on dangerous urges.

Are there specific medications to be combined with therapy?

The use of medication for suicidal thoughts must be aligned with the underlying cause; conditions such as depression, anxiety, and psychosis may be at the root of suicidal ideation. A psychiatrist may prescribe medications for symptoms, which may include antipsychotics such as aripiprazole or antidepressants such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors.

How often and how long are therapy sessions for suicidal ideation?

As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Patients may see improvement within 15 to 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, while others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, perhaps, a six-month period. Still other patients, especially those with co-occurring conditions like major depression and anxiety, may need to continue sessions for up to 12 to 18 months. In some cases, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm.
