My ideal client is an individual or couple motivated to make a change. Their issues can range from struggling to manage their day-to-day lives to struggling to handle emotional reactions. They would need someone who can gently call things out while providing coping skills or tools. My ideal client would want to make an effort to show up consistently. Showing up consistently is not just attending sessions but also putting in work outside of sessions. With consistency, there's more progress. If the client needs some time to warm up, we can work with that, too.

I’m a native New Yorker passionate about serving the needs of my community. I view the relationship between the clinician and client as a collaboration; I want my clients to truly feel like they are a part of the therapeutic process and are in charge of their counseling experience. I have a broad range of clinical experience in the child welfare, family homelessness and healthcare fields, and have worked with adults, children and families. I also have an extensive background of providing support to diverse groups of people including but not limited to those who identified as BIPOC and/or LGBTQIA+.

Psychoanalytic therapy is often maligned in popular media but it remains for me one of the few treatments that seeks to address the innermost, often hidden, parts of ourselves. Psychological symptoms are not only a source of suffering, they are also a message that speaks to desires, conflicts, and pain, wrought by a personal history that can sometimes only come alive when spoken to a professional listening other. The flip-side of anxiety is always a passionate dream that has not been encountered as such. I see my work as bringing my clients closer to that possibility. The intimacy of speaking and listening is rare and a gift.

The idea of calling a therapist makes you uneasy, I know, but you are in distress about something, or many things, and you could use some help in understanding yourself better and working things through. I will work to create a safe space for us to explore the things that are contributing to your emotional pain or paralysis, depression or anxiety, relationship or work difficulties.

As a holistic psychotherapist and deep soul diver, I view every life as a sacred story that is open to interpretation, especially your own. In many ways, I consider myself a spiritual midwife of sorts, helping you emerge from difficult life transitions with more confidence, clarity, and compassion for yourself and others because, after all, we're only human. I take an intuitive, informed and sometimes playful approach to self discovery that respects each person's unique strengths, gifts, and situation. My clients often tell me they feel very seen and understood, and that my insights are very helpful.

Life can be filled with challenging moments, situations and relationships. Such encounters can cause depression, anxiety and isolation. Life events may lead to unhealthy coping mechanisms that can evolve into self-destructive behaviors or relationships. I believe that healing and insight are stimulated by an interpersonal connection provided through a therapeutic alliance between the client and the therapist. I am trained in psychoanalytic psychotherapy, motivational interviewing, and multiple behavioral therapies. I have years of experience as a therapist working in a renowned outpatient substance abuse and mental health facility.

My years of psychodynamic work have brought me full circle to the realization that patterns of fear and doubt are most often at the core of one's desire for seeking help. Along with this awareness is the keen understanding that there are blueprints & pathways to enable one to move beyond these challenging states of being. Applied Attachment Theory provides a lens as well as a portal to transform insecurities when it is combined with eclectic models of developmental trauma designed to concurrently address the fears embedded in one's mind and nervous system. Hence, a psycho-biological integrative approach for transformation!

The longstanding emotional pain caused by psychological problems can greatly interfere with the quality and enjoyment of your life. For example, you may find yourself unable to feel motivated at work, anxious and depressed, disappointed in friends and family, angry and envious of others, and/or self-conscious and unsure of your abilities. These problems do not just show up overnight, and will not disappear with just a few sessions or a "quick fix" treatment. You should be skeptical of a mental health professional who offers or guarantees a quick cure.

Couples who come to see me say things like: "We've had a breakdown in communication;" "We just can't seem to get along;" "I'm feeling unappreciated by my spouse/partner," "We've tried but we can't seem to work through this issue on our own;" "We want to rebuild trust after a betrayal;" "We're struggling to feel close after the transition to parenthood;" and "We love each other very much but we can't stop fighting."
