By delving into the depths of your unconscious mind, we will create meaningful and fearless transpersonal changes.
Glad you're here! :) Perhaps your mind is caught in an endless loop, trying to make sense of everything. Even life’s uncertainties and contradictions (while juggling multiple roles) might be making your journey of self-discovery quite challenging. You might find yourself struggling with anxiety, OCD, relationship conflicts, depression, mood concerns, life transitions, sexuality, or trauma. Within these complexities and challenges, I offer a guiding light. I'm passionate about helping individuals and couples overcome difficulties by increasing self-awareness while exploring and reflecting upon their unique identities and experiences.

Whether you are struggling with a life transition, feeling overwhelmed, or finding yourself stuck in unproductive patterns, talking it out with a non-judgmental person can help. My clinical training has focused on many forms of human suffering, however I have particular experience in helping people work through anxiety, depression, and experiences commonly called "psychosis" (such as hearing voices, alternate realities, suspiciousness, and extreme states). Additionally, I have extensive experience working therapeutically with people who are neurodivergent or diagnosed with "high functioning autism".

Psychotherapy is, most honestly, a very remarkable and often surprising kind of 'conversation.' The distinction being that when we have a 'conversation,' we only know where it will begin, but not where it will end. The 'getting there,' the movement toward 'the end,' is often a thought-provoking, pleasurable, funny, sad, profound experience that changes people in wholly positive ways. When therapist and patient develop a good working relationship, transformative things can happen. My work centers around creating a serious, useful, and private space to begin exploring the depths of what causes you to suffer, or feel misunderstood.

As a Trauma Therapist I use an experiential, body-centered approach that focuses on the acceptance, exploration and integration of your authentic experience in the moment. This approach recognizes that our bodies and our emotions hold tremendous wisdom. I will facilitate this process collaboratively and respectfully so you can express yourself, expand your awareness, and examine the patterns and beliefs about yourself that create inner conflict and struggles. You will discover options and choices, and access your potential, so you can find satisfying answers to your questions and concerns. Fundamental and sustainable change in your life is our key objective.

Welcome! I am a clinical psychologist and a TA psychotherapist (transactional analysis). I work with a variety of psychological challenges but I am specialized in working with individuals struggling with eating disorders (bulimia nervosa, anorexia nervosa, binge-eating disorder). The individuals I work with often come to therapy having tried many behavioral interventions that brought little change (being more disciplined with their diet, exercising more/less, creating plans etc.).

Undergoing deep-seated change is challenging and sometimes even uncomfortable, but seeking to enter willingly into this process can help bring about a re-vitalization in our relationship to ourselves, others, and the wider world. My outlook on treatment seeks to promote an increased capacity for self-expression and creativity. My approach emphasizes the role of the unconscious mind and the importance of self-reflection.

At some point along the way, we all struggle with something. Family, career, relationships, depression, anxiety---something---and we need help to get unstuck and move towards living a more satisfying and authentic life. This is where psychotherapy comes in. I truly believe in its power to bring about personal transformation, help us better understand ourselves, and work through life's difficulties. Life isn't easy, and often, seeking help isn't either. But finding a therapist that you feel comfortable with is the courageous first step.

My approach to psychotherapy synthesizes holistic, spiritual and psychodynamic modes of understanding and working. The therapeutic relationship is a safe context for emotional healing and developing greater self-awareness. I help my clients deal with current difficulties and feelings, release old pain to allow the natural growth process to proceed, change dysfunctional patterns which block fulfillment, and empower themselves through awareness and choice. Working with individuals and couples, I respond to each person's unique personality, history and needs in order to bring about the desired changes.

Curiosity and compassion are the foundation of my practice. I encourage clients to view therapy as a journey we embark on together with a goal of greater self-awareness and self-acceptance. If you're feeling stuck in some aspect of your life, feeling there must be something more, experiencing loss or life transition, coping with trauma or illness, I would be honored to provide support.

Transpersonal Therapists

How does transpersonal therapy work?

Transpersonal therapy focuses on a patient’s spirituality and meaning in life. Transpersonal therapists might borrow from Eastern traditions as well as Western psychology. They may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork to produce altered states of consciousness. The therapist helps the patient to access their consciousness and spirituality to work through difficult mental states.

How long does transpersonal therapy last?

Because the goal is to understand a person as a whole, including their spirituality, treatment can range from months to a year or beyond. While patients learn the philosophy behind transpersonal therapy during treatment, they can also practice its principles throughout life after therapy sessions have ended.

Is transpersonal therapy effective?

Patients have found success with transpersonal therapy; this method is useful in improving anxiety, depression, self-esteem, identity, fears, relationship problems, and other concerns. Improvements in problem areas can continue even after transpersonal therapy ends, as individuals can utilize the tools they’ve learned during treatment sessions.

What are the limitations of transpersonal therapy?

There is some research on the effectiveness of transpersonal therapy, but empirical support for this therapy approach is sparse. It does not have the robust evidence base of other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy.
