While I help many clients with a wide range of issues, my areas of specialization include complex relational problems (both romantic and familial difficulties), anxiety disorders, and working with individuals who have histories of trauma and complex trauma (those who have been exposed to repeated painful emotional experiences, typically during childhood).
I am the clinical director of SoHo Psychology, where I provide support and professional training to our community of dedicated therapists. As a therapist I offer warm and compassionate support while working to help my clients achieve their unique therapeutic goals. My work integrates relational and mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral therapies. I place great importance on the primacy of interpersonal relationships, which when done well, harness the power for transformational growth and healing. This is so for all relationships, and it is especially so for the therapeutic relationship.

I specialize in treating trauma and anxiety, and working with women as they navigate life transitions such as college/graduate school, relationships, marriage and new parenthood. Through an approach of curiosity and collaboration, I will work with you to explore patterns of thinking, feeling, and reacting that get in the way of your goals. Together, we will discover the origin of long-held self-limiting beliefs and stories whether rooted in past experiences of trauma, attachment wounds or other difficult circumstances.

I specialize in anxiety, depression, perinatal, childhood trauma, and intergenerational trauma.
Did you grow up in an inconsistent, neglectful, or unpredictable household? Do you find yourself grappling with stress management and emotional regulation? Perhaps you experience a persistent craving for stimulation, or conversely, moments where you shut down. Our nervous system is profoundly shaped by our family origins, especially our early childhood experiences and the environment we were raised in. Left untreated, these patterns can lead to a dysregulated nervous system, harmful relationships with oneself or others, difficulties in self-parenting or parenting children, and challenges in forming emotional connections.

My work is informed by trainings in yoga, DBT, mindfulness-based CBT and trauma-sensitive meditation.
Stress, anxiety, trauma and relationship issues come in many forms and tend to mask our awareness of our strengths and resources. Yet, it is the struggles themselves that help us to change and grow. Understanding this paradox is one way to find meaning and purpose in life. My clients benefit from slowing down, tuning in to their inner wisdom, and finding solutions to the stress, emotional pain, or emptiness they experience. My approach is holistic and integrative to help you identify recurring patterns, heal traumas, and make positive changes in your life and in relationships.

The author of thirty books for young readers and adults, I write and speak about couples and family relationships, parenting, PTSD, sexual and other trauma, and other subjects for a range of print, online and broadcast media.
I approach therapy as an active, collaborative process. I aim to provide a safe, compassionate and intelligent place to freely explore thoughts, feelings and experiences, take risks to work through past issues and current concerns, and identify and utilize core strengths to grow--and create more fulfilling lives and relationships. Years of clinical research and treatment with post-deployed combat veterans informs my practice: I believe that regardless of circumstances, we possess inherent strengths that, when harnessed, can move us toward wholeness, healing and extraordinary growth as individuals and in connection with others.

It's about working through, and living without the pain of loss, depression and anxiety. In an atmosphere of safety, trust and non-judgement, I will help you navigate those difficulties which foster anxiety, depression and confusion, recognizing the often, central role of trauma in such challenges. I will assist in the process of gaining insight, while making decisions which breed personal and professional success. I will help in cultivating and improving relationships.

Areas of clinical interest and specialization include anxiety, depression, trauma, and psychosomatic issues, as well as conflicts concerning stress management, career/work, relationships, and life transitions.
Psychotherapy is fundamentally about discovering a deeper sense of personal meaning, greater self-understanding, and self-acceptance. It offers the possibility of coming into contact with a more enlivened state of being. Psychotherapy can help us move through life with a greater degree of freedom and flexibility, feeling more connected to ourselves and others along the way. My work is shaped by psychodynamic, existential, and holistic approaches. My complimentary background as a yoga therapist includes considerable training and expertise in embodiment and mindfulness practices, which I draw upon in my clinical work.

I'm a relational therapist, which means I prioritize authenticity, openness, & curiosity in the therapeutic relationship, all while centering trauma-focused, holistic care.
As social beings, our relationships with others, the world, & ourselves are what give our lives meaning. When we feel disconnected from these parts, we're wired to feel absolute despair. Though powerful, I'm confident that this uniquely human sort of suffering can be disarmed by discovering connection & purpose in our lives- & I seek to help you develop the tools you need to do so. I'm passionate about helping people navigate trauma, addiction, anxiety, relationship turmoil, LGBTQIA+ identity, & self-esteem, among other issues. I blend insight-driven “talk therapy” with mindfulness & emotional regulation practices.
