Are you struggling to find fulfillment in some areas of your life? Are you worrying about the future? That you'll never be able to own a home? Reach financial stability? Have close relationships with family and friends? A romantic partner? Perhaps your work is leaving you with a feeling of purposelessness. You're a bright person with many goals, but you're unsure how to tackle them. Therapy can be a place to process the emotions surrounding these, process past trauma, reframe how you see yourself and reevaluate how you can take charge of your role in the things that happen around you. Things don't have to be the way they are now.

My specialties and areas of interest include anxiety, depression, mood disorders, relationships, PTSD and behavioral changes.
Deciding to come to therapy can be a difficult decision; one that takes courage and often comes with some anxiety and ambiguity about what the process will entail. I consider empathy, sympathy, and honesty are the key elements to a nurturing and successful therapeutic relationship. I’ve spent the last 4 years training and working with clients at institutions such as New York Presbyterian, New York University and Cornell Medical College. *** Hablo Espanol*****

Life's challenges, past traumas or present stresses, can make us feel very overwhelmed. Deeply affecting our lives, relationships, and overall well-being. But you don't have to navigate it alone! I support adults in navigating trauma, life transitions, relationship issues, family conflicts, loss, depression, and anxiety, often focusing on how childhood trauma influences adulthood. Together we’ll decipher the intricate patterns of behavior that may be holding you back and grapple with hard emotions. By letting things unravel, past and present experiences, you will rediscover yourself and create the path towards transformative change.

I’ve had the pleasure of working with many clients throughout my career, including but not limited to the LGBTQIA+ communities, sexual assault/domestic violence survivors, those experiencing severe mental illness and chronic medical conditions, and those affected by systemic racial disparities.

Intimately familiar with trauma and the challenges of being human, I am committed to helping patients learn to become aware of and work-through unintegrated feelings and internalized stories to cultivate kindness and curiosity toward themselves.
Is something getting in the way of your feeling free, feeling joyful, feeling well? Are you suffering from a recent loss? Let's explore what might be inhibiting your sense of well-being and help you grow. It would be a privilege to embark on this journey with you; the opportunity to share in this meaningful and creative work of growth and transformation is not a commitment I take lightly.

As a psychoanalytically-oriented clinician who works from a depth perspective, my foremost aim is to develop an open, compassionate, and trusting relationship with you so that you feel free to share with me those issues that most burden you - those issues for which you need careful, caring and respectful attention. I have worked mostly with adults in individual, couples, and group psychotherapy who have struggled with anxiety, depression, panic, trauma (including childhood abuse and neglect), PTSD, and substance use issues. I've worked with and I am sensitive to the needs of people of diverse identities.

I'm a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in the treatment of anxiety, PTSD /trauma, stress, and relationship issues. Are you feeling anxious about the future or stuck in the past? Do you put on a 'calm and collected' front so that others don't see you struggle? Do worries keep you up at night? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you've come to the right place. Often what keeps us stuck in distress are beliefs or old patterns of emotions. But amazing things can happen when we take a chance to try something new.

Healing from sexual addiction requires addiction remediation as well as trauma-based healing and treatment.
Although I specialise in sex and porn addiction treatment, my work encompasses more than just helping my clients stop their self-destructive behaviours. Of course, sexual sobriety is crucial for therapeutic progress, but I have found that healing the childhood neglect and abuse that--without exception--underlie the development of a sexual addiction is also essential if the individual is to have the truly transformative recovery he or she deserves. I aspire to offer patience, empathy, expertise, and loving, respectful care to my clients, which I hope they experience from me in our work together.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists
When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
