I am a psychotherapist, author, and public speaker specializing in psychospiritual development, with particular expertise in psychedelic psychotherapy. My book, Psychedelic Healing: The Promise of Entheogens for Psychotherapy and Spiritual Development, describes the influence of psychedelics on the development of my personality theory and clinical practice. (A six-minute interview “Fusion of Spirit and Science” may be found at: vimeo.com/7517009.) Trained in humanistic, transpersonal, and eastern traditions, I maintain a (non-psychedelic) psychotherapy practice in Brooklyn, New York.

As an active therapist, I help individuals, couples, families, and children identify and transform the story that has been governing their life. It is my belief, that with the right support everyone has the innate capability to show up and transform their life. Past or present circumstances may have created pain or a belief of powerlessness, but these circumstances do not define you. You can reclaim your power and sense of authorship over your own life. In the words of Marianne Wiliamson, " Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate, our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure."

It is important to have physical and mental well-being.Therapy is a process of self discovery and healing. I believe in the process and help people understand that we do it together. It takes time to work on one's issues but I believe in the process of growth and positive change. I help people recognize that you have to love oneself , feel you deserve to be happier and do the work to make that happen.I believe that people are survivors and can overcome obstacles. I look up insurance benefits for patients and do all billing to lessen patient worry over this. I provide telehealth therapy for those who work from home or are disabled

As a Trauma Therapist I use an experiential, body-centered approach that focuses on the acceptance, exploration and integration of your authentic experience in the moment. This approach recognizes that our bodies and our emotions hold tremendous wisdom. I will facilitate this process collaboratively and respectfully so you can express yourself, expand your awareness, and examine the patterns and beliefs about yourself that create inner conflict and struggles. You will discover options and choices, and access your potential, so you can find satisfying answers to your questions and concerns. Fundamental and sustainable change in your life is our key objective.

Welcome...you have arrived at a place I hope can bring you relief, direction and above all growth. A place where you can allow yourself a good exhale, relax your shoulders, let go and begin to feel the ease of your own space to be however you find yourself. I am here to support and guide you in whatever your experience brings to you in this moment of your life. There is healing in slowing down to listen to what your feelings and body are telling you, in an open and compassionate environment. I am honored to be a part of such important work.

I'm a trans, queer, Mexican-American therapist who works from an attuned, responsive, and relationship oriented approach. As all of us have a tendency to get lost in a narrative or storyline, I invite clients to slow down with me and get intimate with their direct experience—the raging emotions in the body, the coming and going of thoughts, the feeling of shaky vulnerability, the rage, the loneliness—honoring it all and creating a safe holding space for these lost emotions, perhaps for the first time ever. In addition to psychotherapy, I offer end-of-life support, and coaching.

In my practice I work with adults who feel "stuck" in their lives, often for some time. Some of the issues people present with when seeking therapy are dissatisfaction with their partner, loneliness and desire to find a loving healthy partnership, dissatisfaction with their career path or job stress, dealing with unresolved issues from childhood/trauma or health issues to name a few. Many clients discover through the therapy process the internalized messages or internal model of the world that they have been carrying around since childhood which negatively impacts them in the present.

People often come to therapy feeling a need to fix or change some troubling aspect of themselves. What can be surprising, however, is that the therapeutic process may begin as a journey of self-acceptance rather than fixing or changing. Most of us have not been fortunate enough to have people in our lives who can listen without judgement or agenda. That is my job as your therapist. By truly listening, I will learn what the world looks like through your eyes and this understanding of your inner world will help me guide you through the challenging journey of self-acceptance as the gateway to personal transformation.

I offer a safe and nonjudgmental space to explore obstacles that you may feel are holding you back from accessing a fuller life. My goal is to help you connect more to your authentic self while shedding what no longer serves you. This often involves rewriting parts of your life story. We will work at your pace to explore a deeper understanding of the heaviness and wounds you may carry in order to explore avenues for growth and evolution. My style is open, warm, and compassionate.

Transpersonal Therapists

How does transpersonal therapy work?

Transpersonal therapy focuses on a patient’s spirituality and meaning in life. Transpersonal therapists might borrow from Eastern traditions as well as Western psychology. They may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork to produce altered states of consciousness. The therapist helps the patient to access their consciousness and spirituality to work through difficult mental states.

How long does transpersonal therapy last?

Because the goal is to understand a person as a whole, including their spirituality, treatment can range from months to a year or beyond. While patients learn the philosophy behind transpersonal therapy during treatment, they can also practice its principles throughout life after therapy sessions have ended.

Is transpersonal therapy effective?

Patients have found success with transpersonal therapy; this method is useful in improving anxiety, depression, self-esteem, identity, fears, relationship problems, and other concerns. Improvements in problem areas can continue even after transpersonal therapy ends, as individuals can utilize the tools they’ve learned during treatment sessions.

What are the limitations of transpersonal therapy?

There is some research on the effectiveness of transpersonal therapy, but empirical support for this therapy approach is sparse. It does not have the robust evidence base of other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy.
