I believe we are all individuals on a unique journey and mental health treatment should align with that journey. Mental health should be valued just as much as physical well-being. Growing into the best version of ourselves doesn't have to be a difficult and impossible journey, it can be fun and exciting! We all need extra support and guidance sometimes and utilizing therapy is one of the healthiest ways to find that.

H-hour is for an adult or adolescent willing to explore and examine their most difficult thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. This is for you if you are tired of feeling out of control, lost, or losing at life and prepared to write, build, and act out a better story.

Deciding to enter therapy can be difficult for some individuals. Sometimes dealing with feelings of depression, anxiety or life's transitions can be overwhelming. When entering a counseling relationship with me I will provide a safe, caring and confidential environment to explore these feelings. It is my goal to build strong minds and strong lives by helping my clients increase their awareness, which will foster new growth and thereby transform their lives. I encourage and teach people how to operate out of their strengths and to make positive changes in their lives.

Paul Santasieri is a Licensed Professional Counselor certified in individual and marriage and family therapy, with over 25 years experience in the field. Paul graduated from The College of NJ with a Masters in Counseling. Prior to coming to Pathways, Paul was a full time Lecturer in Psychology at Ocean County College. Prior to that, Paul was the Supervisor of Student Personnel Services at Colts Neck High School. Paul specializes in all facets of therapy including, individual, marriage and family and an emphasis on adolescents.

Wellness is a matter of balance. Anyone who struggles with addiction, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, or ANY experience of overwhelming emotion, can relate to a sense of imbalance. Often times we develop strategies to tip the scale. Unfortunately, we may find strategies that become part of a cycle of avoidance. I can help you break this cycle by creating strategies that promote balance, rather than a constant see-saw.

Addiction and mental health disorders are often misunderstood. I believe in meeting my clients where they are and empowering awareness and meaningful change. There isn't a one size fits all approach and I use various techniques to meet unique needs of each individual. Successful treatment involves education and support. I have worked in a variety of settings over the past 20 years including hospital based programs, day programs, residential treatment programs, outpatient treatment programs, and within the criminal justice system.

I work with clients seeking to address a wide variety of issues while fostering self understanding and personal growth. Having vast experience working with families in the community and students in a high school, I work with adolescents and their parents to address behavioral and emotional issues. In addition, I have developed a specialty in couples counseling, which comprises about half my practice. Utilizing Imago Therapy as my foundation, I teach how relationships can be a place of healing and growth, while coaching couples to utilize communication skills to create the understanding, acceptance, and connection for which humans long.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, an AAMFT Approved Supervisor and Certified Family Mediator working with individuals, couples and families for over 15 years. Individual counseling includes self-esteem, relationships, life transitions, academic & career choices, depression and anxiety. Couple and Family counseling is dynamic, including pre-marital counseling, family planning, parental burn out, parenting issues, in-law matters, intimacy issues, low sexual desire, infidelity (emotional, physical and internet) recovery, divorce adjustment, and blended family issues, as well as individual issues.

I provide a personal relationship where a person can feel safe and inspired for their own personal growth and healing. With extensive experience working with children, adolescents and their families, I am equipped to address a wide range of life-controlling problems, including addiction and other levels of substance use. I understand that when a person presents for counseling they are in need of support and relief from what is troubling them, therefore my approach is directive and solution focused. I am bilingual in American Sign Language and can serve Deaf and hard of hearing individuals.

The focus of this practice is structured to support highly motivated adults including health care providers and educational professionals who are experiencing stress, grief, anxiety, depression and major life change. My ideal client might be in any stage of addiction awareness. Might be considering whether they have a problem, whether they can stop on their own but need support, are ready to do what is necessary to stop drinking or using and sustained recovery support. There really is no ideal client, it is what the person needs at the time they are ready to ask for some help. Then we sit down and talk and come up with an initial plan always remembering that it will probably change. I want to meet the client where he or she is in the path of recovery from addiction.
