I believe we all need a safe harbor; a place to land where we can explore our lives, the beautiful, as well as, the challenging and painful. When I think of counseling, I think of a space where you can show up as you are and bare who you are to yourself and a compassionate, clear, and experienced other. Whether you are experiencing life transition, confusion, anxiety and fear, existential malaise, difficulties with self worth, relational troubles, or other concerns, the therapy space can offer a place where you can explore these concerns in a safe and supportive environment.

You might be anxious and/or depressed, having difficulty in relationships, maybe you've noticed that something has changed but you can't quite put a finger on it, or you have some idea your concerns might be connected to earlier life. Maybe you've had some physical complaints emerge like gastrointestinal problems, headaches, problems with sexual functioning or chronic back tension. You value therapy and are looking for a clear, direct approach and want a therapist who will jump in with you to understand what's happening, and balance support with healthy challenge for growth.

In addition to weekday hours, I do have weekend sessions that open occasionally. I specialize in meaning and perspective. Seeing the world even in a slightly new way creates opportunities to think, feel, and act differently. I aim to build self-esteem while helping clients with insight, clarity, purpose, and relief. When appropriate I like using humor. Laughing is medicinal. Humor helps makes sense of human life.

Welcome! For some, entering therapy occurs upon recognizing behavioral patterns that are consciously maladaptive, yet difficult to improve. In our work, you can expect treatment to be tailored according to your presenting concerns, personal history, attachment style, core values, and long-term goals. In session, clients can begin to analyze self-states, such as: What is this bodily sensation pushing for me to do? Is it serving me in any way? How is this emotion leading to self-sabotaging behavior? Is there a way to convey my needs that is less taxing, and more effective? What successes can I celebrate...?
