You know it's time to start focusing on yourself. You know something needs to change but you're not sure where to start. Maybe you're not where you thought you'd be at this point in life. Maybe old patterns or traumas are still affecting you and this time you don't want to just "put a bandaid on it". You'd like a clearer sense of who you are and where you're going in life. You'd like to feel more in control of your life and your reactions.

I provide psychoeducational assessments for students who are having difficulty in school. Currently I am only providing assessments through an online platform. Striving to help these students understand their strengths and weaknesses, as well as gaining skills to help school become easier is my number one goal. Often my clients have teachers or parents who believe that the student might have a psychological, attention, or learning difference, which is preventing them from learning to the best of their abilities.

As a compassionate and dedicated therapist, I understand that children thrive in nurturing environments filled with love and support. Unfortunately, this isn’t always the reality. Many individuals grow up with caregivers who are emotionally neglectful, which can profoundly affect their ability to form healthy, fulfilling relationships in adulthood. I specialize in helping adults who seek support and change in their relationships, particularly those whose feelings were dismissed in their formative years. My approach combines empathy with evidence-based techniques, creating a safe and supportive space for self-exploration.

I work with children, adolescents, adults, and couples using an empathic, mindfulness based approach that is aimed at helping individuals move towards their goals. I help people work through a range of challenges including processing trauma, living with anxiety, living with depression, living with anger/rage, and working through interpersonal or family conflict. In addition, I also support people who may be struggling to achieve a balance and a feeling of control in their world. I offer a relaxed and supportive space that allows individuals to make their own choices in their process of moving towards their specific goals.

Time and time again, people share that they struggle for years believing that in some way, deep down, they are "broken." It comes up when they try to set goals and fail a few weeks in. It comes up in relationships where they experience more loneliness than connection. And worst of all, it happens when they judge themselves for not being able to shake their depression and anxiety. In both sides of my work, as a psychotherapist and as a coach, I ask people how it would change their perceptions of themselves they started with their goodness, their self-efficacy and their right to be empowered and happy?

Not accepting new clients
Currently not accepting new clients or adding to the wait list, my apologies. Thank you for taking a moment to read about me and my practice! I help couples find ways to feel connected, respected, and loved. If you feel dissatisfied, scared, or confused about relationships with others (and your relationship with yourself!) in your life, I can help. Research suggests that the best predictor of therapeutic success is the relationship one has with the therapist, not the type of therapy used. If you'd like to see if my approach would work for you, please visit my website at kategreenenlmft.com.

I work with adults from many diverse backgrounds and with a wide variety of therapeutic goals. I specialize in working with people who struggle with low self-esteem, those who suffered childhood abuse and/or neglect, who are interested in healing their ancestral and intergenerational trauma patterns, relational and attachment issues, and codependent tendencies. I also support clients who are becoming leaders or need help navigating the tricky waters of being a leader, are wanting to step into their creative potential, or are interested in living life outside the box.

I believe therapy is most effective when people feel safe, comfortable and at ease in a non-judgmental, neutral environment. It is here that people can safely process everyday stressors, difficult experiences past or present, symptoms of anxiety that may be showing up in their life, symptoms of depression, codependency, relationship and or family conflict, or struggling with changes happening around them. My hope is to help people feel seen, heard, and to feel empowered by offering a warm, compassionate and supportive space to my clients. You do not need to do any of this alone and I am so glad you are here!

Is it challenging for you to be fully present? Do you hold back or hide your best self? You want to change but it feels like something’s in the way. You read books, listen to podcasts, say affirmations, talk to your therapist, and although you know all about your issues and trauma your behaviors remain the same and change continues to be elusive. It’s as if there’s an imaginary wall between you, who you want to be and the life you want to live. A wall made from distorted, outdated views about ourselves. What if we could remove the wall simply by releasing emotional baggage from the past? It’s possible with body-mind-energy therapy.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
